Chapter 9 Yes, really!

1276 Words
“Yes, really!” the girl snarled harshly.   “Good. Then tell me, what’s your name?” Alan looked at her with mischievous eyes.   “Her name is Belinda!” Betty poked her adorable head out again.   “Betty!!” Belinda cast a glare at Betty unhappily, but the latter just stuck her tongue out before shrinking back behind her older sister.   Alan laughed aloud and tossed another fruit to Betty. “What a lovely angel you are!”   “Well, hello, Miss Belinda. I think we should start afresh. My name is Alan. Nice to meet you!” Alan put on a perfect display of royal etiquette and greeted the elven girl.   “So, is this how your kind treats your friends?” Belinda sneered while staring back at the prince warily.   Alan smiled. “Of course not. But to keep me safe, I think it’s necessary to take some precautions. I’m sure you will understand.”   As he spoke, he clapped his hand at Derya standing at his side and instructed, “Invite Ser Gossen here and prepare some food for these two beautiful ladies along the way. I’m sure they’re starving. My dear Derya, show me what you are capable of. I don’t want to hear any negative comments about our Athenian food from the two elven ladies!”   Derya nodded and left reverently.   Before long, Gossen arrived at the hall dressed in his fighting suit. His countenance remained unchanging even when he saw Belinda and Betty, except for a hint of surprise that flashed across his eyes.   “Your Highness!”   Gossen gave Alan a salute in accordance with the code of chivalry.   “Ser Gossen, they are my new friends whom I just met. Please remove the magic-suppressing handcuffs binding them,” Alan said amicably to Gossen.    Casting a glance at Alan and raising his eyebrows, Gossen nodded and walked to Belinda and Betty without question. His towering figure brought an overwhelming and intimidating presence to the girls.   That was especially so for Belinda, who could clearly sense the strong aura that the tall man before her was giving off. She reckoned that she was no match for him even at her peak, let alone now.   “Humph! What a sly man he is!”   Belinda gritted her teeth and cursed inwardly as she looked at Alan who was not far away from her. She had planned to trick him into removing their handcuffs and then escape when they had a chance to. Now that this tall, strong man was here, she was well aware that her plan would never succeed.   Gossen seemed unimpressed by the two girls’ stunning beauty. He simply approached them and removed their handcuffs without so much as glancing at them sideways before he retreated behind Alan.   Having regained freedom, innocent Betty couldn’t help but let out a whoop of joy. Even Belinda, who had been staying alert all this while, looked emotional.   Alan, on the other hand, merely looked at them smilingly and did not interrupt their joy over their regained freedom.    It was not until after they calmed down did Alan ask with a half-smile, “Well? As your boyfriend, I didn’t lie to you, right?”    Upon his teasing words, Belinda’s delicate face blushed slightly. Despite her bashfulness, she bent over slightly and curtsied to Alan in accordance with standard royal graces. “Thank you!”   “Thank you!” Little Betty imitated Belinda clumsily and extended the same courtesy to Alan, which looked adorable.   Seeing how surprised Alan was, Belinda smiled faintly. “The elven live a long life, and we are familiar with your language and etiquette.”    “That’s impressive!” exclaimed Alan.   On the other hand, Gossen, who was standing behind the prince all this while, was looking at Alan in curiosity and puzzlement. It was already surprising that he managed to get his hands on two extremely beautiful elven girls. But how in the world did he become an elf’s boyfriend?   Since when was it so easy to get along with the elven?   Gossen had a deeper understanding of elves than Alan did. Countless books and records stated that elves were favored by nature and were born noble and proud. They didn’t like humans, and even held a grudge against humans for various reasons.   The friendship that Alan managed to develop with two elves took Gossen aback.   “You’re very special.” As Belinda looked at Alan, curiosity grew in her heart toward this man who appeared to not have any greed or desire. All the humans she had met before wanted to either capture or possess her. There had been no one like the young man before her who had pure eyes and a kind heart.   “Of course. I’m the first human to have an elven girlfriend, after all!” Alan joked.   Belinda rolled her eyes at him. Glancing at her messy hair and tattered clothes, she lifted her slender fingers and began to chant silently.   Alan’s face changed as he hopped quickly like a rabbit to a pillar and hid behind it. Gossen took a step forward silently and his originally gentle eyes turned sharp.   Green light burst out and the two girls, who were dirty just a second ago, were washed clean by the green light in an instant. Even their clothes looked as fresh as new.   “Great! I’m a clean girl again!” Little Betty swiveled and exclaimed excitedly.   Belinda, on the other hand, deliberately looked at Alan. The embarrassing way that Alan behaved just now soothed the anger in her heart slightly.   “This must be the natural magic of the elven! Incredible!” Alan praised as he walked out from behind the pillar, acting like he wasn’t terrified by Belinda’s behavior a moment earlier.   “Sorry that I scared you. We love to keep things clean.” Despite her apologetic tone, there was a trace of triumph as her lips curved slightly upward.   Alan rubbed his nose awkwardly upon realizing that he had behaved like a coward just now.   Derya worked quickly and efficiently. Not long later, a wide array of dishes was served on the long dining table, bringing an inviting aroma with them.    “Beautiful ladies, please enjoy the meal.”   Alan politely invited the two elven girls to tuck in, knowing that they must be starving.   Sure enough, Belinda and Betty couldn’t help but swallow at the sight of the food on the table.   “Help yourselves,” Alan said while cutting through the beef steak. He was rather hungry himself as well. He wondered where Derya managed to get beef steak, given that Blackstone City was currently facing a shortage of food.   Belinda and Betty weren’t interested in meat like steak and roast lamb. Instead, they were wild about bread and desserts. From Alan’s point of view, however, the so-called dessert and bread in this medieval-like world were far inferior to those back on Earth.   Belinda was very reserved. After a few pieces of bread and some dessert, she put down her utensils. Little Betty, however, was still digging out some jam with a spoon. Her cheeks bulged with the food in her mouth and cream hung on the corners of her lips. She sighed with satisfaction and a look of enjoyment on her face, which tickled many.   Belinda seemed a little embarrassed by Little Betty and she pinched Betty’s thigh with a flushed face.   It wasn’t until then did Betty jolt awake. She put down the spoon, her gaze still lingering on the unfinished dessert. The adorable look on her face made Alan burst into laughter.
