  As the sun went down, the workers were preparing to go home after a busy day. Before they left, they could go to the shed on the quarry to claim a piece of brown bread. Upon seeing the huge pile of brown bread that had filled the shed gone in less than half an hour, Alan felt the corner of his eyes twitch. A sack of grain could at most make 100 pieces of brown bread, the cheapest food possible. In order to provide each worker with two pieces of brown bread per day, more than 20 sacks of grain were needed each day. In addition to other expenses, Alan's stockpile could only last him for ten days at most, under the most ideal situation.
