CHAPTER 2
"I said stop, Blaze." Oliver roared, following him inside the living room while I trailed them like a lost puppy.
"I don't take orders from you, Oliver." He retorted, stomping ahead of him.
"Gotcha!" Theo screamed with his hands wide open as if blocking Blaze's way.
"Get out of my way, Theo. I've got things to do." He shoved him.
"Like what? Empty ten more bottles of whiskey?" I yelled, forcing him to turn back at me.
I don't understand what happened. It was like a switch flicked inside him when he saw Oliver. He quickly got up and sprinted out of the gym, leaving me there to contemplate what went wrong.
"Just leave me alone." He said, irritated.
Alright, I got it. He w afraid. He was still afraid of facing them. He masked his fear by anger but his eyes not meeting anyone else's said it all.
I inhaled a huge load of oxygen before taking cautious steps towards him. He was too vulnerable right now. I didn't want to make this any worse.
"Look here, Raf." I slowly held his hand.
"Don't call me that." He jerked it away. I grabbed it again.
"What did we talk about a few minutes ago? These people are your family, Raf. They care about you. Don't create a fortress around yourself. Besides, we need you more than you need us."
"I don't believe it when they say they've forgiven me." He said, his voice hoarse.
"Family is something that stays with you in your good as well as bad times. If you go on the wrong track, family is the one to drag you back to the right path. Yes, we were angry at you but we won't just leave you because of it." Theo desperately tried to convince him.
Blaze remained silent for some time until he mustered up the courage to meet their gaze, especially Oliver's.
"Tell him to say that he doesn't hate me." Blaze demanded grumpily, point a finger at Oliver.
"Tell him to say Oliver fights better than him." My brother demanded back.
"Hello! You're supposed to be the grandpa, not the kid." Theo shrieked.
"Such chances are rare. I won't miss the opportunity." He shrugged.
"I'm not going to lie." Blaze stated.
"Fine then! I hate you." Oliver jabbed a finger in his chest.
"Yeah because you're jealous of me. You know I'm better than you." Blaze returned the gesture.
"Go on. Keep fooling yourself." Oliver shoved him causing him to stumble a few steps back.
"Why don't you do that. Chelsea liked me more than you." He smirked.
And it went on and on while I just gaped at these two adult toddlers with my jaw lying flat on the floor. That escalated real quick!
I was too shocked to even so much as blink. I was like a wax statue until Theo whispered into my ears.
"They look like idiots. Who squabbles like that?" He twisted his face in disfavor.
"Um.. You and Liam?" I remarked.
"You shut up."
"No you shut up."
"YOU BOTH SHUT UP! WHAT THE ACTUAL f**k!" I yelled in complete frustration.
"Now I feel like a troubled parent. You guys are mafias. And you Mr Sinclair are the Mafia King for heavens sake! Now settle this with a handshake. Act like adults." I commanded.
They obeyed half heartedly.
"Now kiss." Theo ordered, collapsing on the couch out of laughter.
They won't. Right?
Blaze performed a huge eye roll and then they did the weird bro hug which Theo joined because he was feeling left out.
"Holy s**t! It's a party!" Liam appeared from the main door, flashing towards the group of three and jumped over them, joining in.
"Who allowed monkeys inside the house?" Theo scowled at his twin.
"Don't worry Tobo, I've called the zoo. They'll come and get you." Liam fired back.
I just watched them with a broad smile plastered over my face. That day I realized, what real happiness was. To be with people you love.
It's going to be alright.
We are going to be alright.
Because we have each other. Always. No bloody one can tear us apart, no matter how hard they try.
"You need an invitation, muffin?" Oliver called me out. Giggling, I skipped my way to them.
"I love my boys." I remarked dramatically.
"MEN!" They screamed.
BLAZE
No.
I can't.
I just can't accept what Oliver was saying. I've tried and I've failed. I don't want to fool myself anymore into believing that it's possible.
"I need you to understand that I'm not saying this because of what happened. This was wrong since the very beginning. There's no point dwelling on the past. It's gone. But we still have the future make good our mistakes." Oliver's words were laced with hurt but at the same time, they were determined.
"f**k yes! It's here!" Liam exclaimed, dropping his glasses on his laptop in the process.
We both ran over to him, staring at the screen although we didn't understand s**t about what it was displaying. It was some Liam magic with hacking.
"You see this figure here?" He pointed to a seven digit number in Nikolai's account that he hacked. "You know where this sudden dump of so much money is from?"
"Where?"
"Here." He showed another figure. "The transaction stemmed from Luca's account. This figure in Nikolai's account is just nineteen percent of the total amount. Forty one percent has gone to-"
"That b***h!" Oliver spat with utter hatred which I didn't understand why.
"Come on, Oliver. Allegra is hot, alright." Liam scowled.
"The remaining forty percent stayed with Luca." I stated, joining the dots.
"Yes." Liam affirmed. "And guess from where the money reached Luca. An anonymous account from the name Sebastian Voss. Now think! The initials also stand for?"
"Shrouded Visitant." Oliver whispered, shocked. "Look up that name. Maybe, just maybe that's his real name."
"I already did. Jake and I also did a background check for some shortlisted people bearing that name but we found nothing." Liam informed, pushing his glasses up.
"What now? The Visitant is providing them financial aid?" I flumped down the chair in the study, trying to chalk out some plans. This was getting worse.
"Luca's financial condition was deteriorating again. He quite foolishly fell into the Ariel trap. He believed all the false information we directed towards him through her and even acted on it resulting in his finances crippling." Oliver started pacing.
"You see what's happening here?" I raised a brow. His face told me he was thinking the same thing as me.
"The Visitant somehow always supports Luca just when he's about to fall. Last time when he almost went bankrupt, the Visitant helped him with stealing our gold and now such a huge amount - a direct financial aid." He explained.
There's something we aren't seeing. We're missing a small detail. What is it? What the f**k is it?
"Can you by any chance trace the location of these transactions?" I enquired.
"I tried but it was futile." Liam shook his head.
"This isn't going anywhere." I tipped my head back on the chair.
"Let's not get demotivated. This at least means we were on the right track. Targeting Luca will lead us to the Visitant." Liam encouraged.
"Dinner's ready!" Theo swarmed in like a tornado with a wide grin on his face.
"Guess what we have to fill our tummies. Vittoria special pink pasta and risotto and that disgusting avocado and spinach salad which Oliver likes and Oliver alone eats. Damn! She loves you." He cringed before listing out three more items.
"Has she invited entire Esztar over dinner?" I asked, wide eyed.
"She's just very excited." He chuckled. "Today happens to be the day when her tasty food ban is finally being lifted off by this tormentor of her brother."
"You did what?" I screamed, not able to contain my surprise.
"I controlled her diet." He shrugged casually. "She looked like a walking skeleton. I couldn't start her training with a body which lacked all the vitals."
"He even made her get up early every morning and make her go for a jog before going to work and then all the training hours after work." Liam announced.
"Stop before I faint. She did all that? Are you telling me she actually listened to you?" I held a hand over my chest.
He smiled proudly like he's conquered this freaking world. "Yes, I disciplined her."
I couldn't hold back a scoff. "Jokes on you. Her room still resembles a tsunami prone area."
Abrupt silence.
Then some more silence.
What did you do Blaze! I mentally punched myself while feigning a nonchalant exterior.
"How do you know that?" He took a step closer, staring at me narrow eyed.
Think of something Blaze. Be quick. He's very seriously when it comes to his sister.
"Ever heard of the word confidence?" I smirked.
"Dude knows how to recognize people." Theo praised.
Phew! They bought it.
Oliver's expressions switched to a relaxed ones but his slightly skeptical stance still remained.
As if on cue, Vittoria walked into the room with that Vittoria smile. How my heart skips a beat every time I see her is still a mystery. It's insane!
"So what did my boys find out?" She hopped over to Liam, scrutinizing the screen with focus.
"What's all this?" Her brows creased as she tried to make sense of the mess of the screen.
"Finally something Vittoria Andress doesn't understand. Wow!" Liam teased.
"Shut up you nincompoop." She draped the hood over his head down enough to cover his eyes.
"I what?" He irritably pulled it off his head, his dirty blonde hair all messed up now.
"Nin-com-poop." She made a funny face.
"Suits your personality, dear brother." Theo mocked and they did a high five while Liam turned back to his laptop like a grumpy kid.
My eyes trailed her every intricate detail. The way her eyes narrowed as she laughed, that silly little dimple on her left cheek, the jumble of shoulder length raven hair falling over her forehead, all of it.
I was forced out of my trance when Oliver cleared his throat, his accusing glare fixated on me.
"Vittoria you go set the table. We'll join you in a few minutes." He said a little sternly.
"Alright, but be quick or the food will get cold." She left the study, closing the door behind her.
Oliver stared at me.
The twins stared at Oliver.
And I stared at the black table lamp.
"I thought we agreed upon this." Oliver stated.
"No, you agreed. I didn't." I protested. "I'm sorry Oliver but I love her. I love Vittoria, alright." I threw my hands up.
"I apologize to you too Liam."
"That's cool. I'm over her anyway. I'm in love with someone else." He chimed.
"You what? What all did I miss? Who is it?"
"Angelina Jolie." He stared away dreamily, smiling like an i***t.
"Don't you dare, Liam. She's mine." Theo threw daggers at him.
I am living with retards.
"We've already discussed this, Blaze. You're only going to make this more difficult. You know this decision of yours will hurt everyone in the end." Oliver countered.
I briefly closed my eyes, working out the solution to this problem. One thing was for sure. I was not letting her slip away once again. She was ready to give me a second chance and that was all that mattered to me. That moment I made a decision.
I will fight for her.
Then may it be her brother or this entire f*****g world.
"Fine, I understand." I whispered.
"Good. I trust you with staying away from her." He said genuinely.
I was feeling bad lying to him about my decision but I also understand that his sister is a very sensitive topic for him. I'll just lay low until I figure out how to deal with the situation. Maybe all he needs is a little time until he knows by himself that I was right.
"Now let's get going before she kills us." Theo suggested.
•°•°•°•
Her mind just won't stop functioning.
We told her about the new findings and now she was racking her brains to make sense of it.
"I feel like a pregnant woman with so much food in my belly." Theo plonked himself on the couch, simultaneously knocking down the lamp next to it.
Just great.
"Oops sorry." He smiled sheepishly.
"Let's go out for a few days. We need a vacation." She suggested, smiling brightly.
"There's a lot of work pending. Plus your training isn't over yet- don't cheat Liam." Oliver shouldered him, causing him to drop the console and eventually losing the bike race.
"No! You did not just do that, grandpa." He whined.
"Fine! But let's do something fun at least." Vittoria pouted.
I had to look away from those lips.
"We can go shopping next Sunday." Oliver offered.
"Nah. Something more fun." She wiggled her eyebrow. "Can I really not kill Luca?"
"No." Her brother stated blankly before beginning another race.
"Not even that dimwit Alvaro?" She pushed.
She isn't serious.
Right?
"Times have changed." Liam sighed dramatically, noticing the look on my face.
"Sometimes I feel Travis is instead protecting Luca from getting murdered by her." Theo laughed. "That's how fierce her hatred is for him."
Oh boy!
Talking about Travis, he marched into the room, walking straight towards Vittoria.
"You've got a visitor, ma'am." He informed.
"Me?" She exclaimed. "Who would want to see me that too at this time?"
Exactly! It was eleven at night. Who could it be? I was just about to ask him when the man dressed in a brown suit walked in.
Oliver legit jumped up from his seat, clear terror written over his face. The rest seemed to be imitating his reactions while Vittoria just stared at him, dumbfounded.
"What are you doing here, Raymond?" Oliver snarled, throwing daggers at him.
He conveniently disregarded his warning and continued slinking his way to Vittoria.
"What? I can't even meet my daughter?" He grinned cunningly.
