The Quick Wedding

429 Words
The daybreak's, the city covered in mist. Lily stared out the taxi window as the courthouse approached into view, She couldn’t believe what she was about to do. A few weeks ago, she’d been thinking about how to pay her bills. All of a sudden she was on her way to marry a billionaire she barely knew. Ethan sat beside her, composed as ever, his suit perfectly pressed and looking luxurious, his expression scribbled. The difference between them made her shift in her seat. He looked like he belonged to every boardroom and gala in New York. She looked like a queen, a diner waitress about to live a soft life. “chill,” Ethan said calmly, although he could feel she's worried about it. “It’s only a piece of paper.” She gave him a smile. “Easy for you to say. For me, it’s a big decision in my life.” He paused just for a second. “And I’ll make sure it’s not worse. You have my word.” The taxi arrived at the courthouse steps. Lily’s heart started to beat as they climbed out, her head spinning slightly. Inside, the judge waited, impatient but efficient, guiding them through the proposal. The words were unclear — vows recited too fast, signatures jotted across legal forms. Her hand shakes as she writes her name: Lily Brooks Carter. And then came the pause. “The kiss,” the judge prompted. Lily turned to Ethan, her pulse started racing fast. Before she could lean in for the kiss, his hand's feeling her lip's, warm and steady, and his lip's captured hers, he wants to pull out but he doesn't and she did not intend to pull out either. His lips brushed hers in a polite way. It was a passionate, possessive, craving kiss that stopped her from doubting him,and made her whole body shivered. His thumb touched her cheek as if he’d kissed her a hundred times before, and her knees weakened so she could barely walk– still in shock. Then he took a few seconds to think and was in disbelief that he couldn't resist the kiss, she gasped softly, her lips craving for more, her heart pounding. Ethan’s gaze held hers, dark and intent. “Convincing enough?” he murmured. She couldn't speak. She was in a spot Frozen and thinking of the kiss, All she could do was nod, wanting more of his lip's ,knowing one thing terrifying : whatever that just happened between them, it was far more dangerous than any contract she’d ever agreed to.
