Camie-Graduation

The next week passed quickly, I know I did well on my finals and I was excited to start my new paralegal job on Monday, I finished my last shift at the restaurant. The other employees and Delilah threw me a little celebration after closing with some cake and drinks. Moments like these helped me see that I have overcome so much and good things were coming, not to mention I was excited to walk in commencement tomorrow. I also had plans to go home, not my first home but the one that took its place after what happened. I woke up in the morning, showered, put on my simple light make-up, and put on my knee length, tight fitted, emerald green dress. I had worked hard all these years learning to fight and defend myself and I was confident that I looked good. I added gold hoops with my hair curled and down so I could wear my cap, and put it all together with my gold wedge heels. (Bia- ‘girl you look hot’ I giggled in embarrassed at her comment ‘you should go looking for a nice guy tonight its been a while since we ended things with your human boyfriend’, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes, ‘Bia you better be careful or I wont let you out this weekend when we go visit Auntie Rachel and Uncle Travis’, she lowered her head understanding she needed to be good) I checked in near the auditorium for graduates and found my seat, the different speakers were rather boring and I was becoming impatient and anxious to walk across the stage and go home. Finally my row stood to get in line and my name was called as I walked across the stage holding my head high and feeling so proud of all that I have accomplished. As I walked across the stage a few of my friends in the graduating class cheered and I heard a larger group from the stands screaming. When I looked I saw Delilah, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Travis, and surprisingly my parents; I grinned and gave them a nod while I walked back to my seat. I was happy they came but also slightly confused, I thought I was in trouble for what beating I gave Alpha Trent. After the ceremony I sent Delilah a text to meet me at the rose garden, when I walked into the garden my aunt and uncle ran to me almost knocking me over. Delilah joined in next and then when they stepped back I walked to my mom and dad who were sitting next to a beautiful Purple Rose bush. “Mom! Dad! You made it” They stood and embraced me in a long hug and each gave me a kiss “I thought given what happened you weren’t coming?” My dad’s smile disappeared and he looked sad “Sweet heart I am so sorry for what I said, I should have asked you what happened and made sure you were okay without my anger or worrying taking over”. I smiled and gave him another hug “Dad thank you for coming to celebrate” He smiled back, clapping his hands together “well I guess that means we should get to dinner and then we can head home” I decided not to respond to his comment about home, I don’t think he realized that I had made plans to go else where and wanted to enjoy dinner first At dinner we talked about my new paralegal job, the next stage of my education to become a lawyer, and random current events. At the end I gave my parents a hug “I hope you drive safe let me know when you make it back its a good 3 hour drive” They both looked confused and my mom said “But it’s Friday you can come home for the weekend”. I broke eye contact and sighed I took both there hands and felt bad about letting them down “Mom, dad, I already had plans to go home with Auntie and Uncle, I thought I already made it known I don’t plan on coming back to Crescent Moon ever…” silence filled the room and my dad looked angry “Why? I know you were bullied really bad and I know that Daxton broke your heart but you should be over that by now” I saw red….. “how dare you say I was just bullied, I was hated, and I was almost beaten to death so I would not talk, how dare you make what I went through not a big deal” I stormed away and did not give them an opportunity to say anything or look back at them When I got back to the apartment I changed into comfy clothes, grabbed my bag, and put Felix in his crate. I had a good 2 hour drive to reach my aunt and uncles home at Half Moon Pack. The sun was starting to set and driving into the mountains brought back some comfort as I headed to the place that saved my life.
