ALEXANDRINE's Pov
Five years later
Standing on the same cliff where at one point in life she had borne witness to the sheer cruelty of fate , a rush of memories overwhelmed her as the golden sunlight poured over her.
THE CLIFF , once a silent observer of her darkest hour, now embraced her with a gentle warmth.
As she gazed out at the horizon where in the past she testified her home being burned to ashes, crumbling to the ground. Now the remaining palace had a new owner, a traitor , the other half that caught fire was the living attestation of that night as the bearer of cruelty , left wrecked and abandoned .
In the back of her mind she could, up until the present, hear the haunting screams of her people begging for mercy , their pleas for dear life of their children . Helpless cries of innocuous virtuous maiden-wives were resounding, who were being brutally r***d and then killed by the devils and at last , the sight of her beloved family being assassinated by the people they used to call friends .
The events of that fateful day , ected into her soul, played vividly in her memory . A day when it all came crashing down , a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the harsh realities of the Land Of The Living.
Alexandrine was staring down in raging fury burning her chest , her fists clenched trembling beside her waist , nails digging into her palm drawing blood as she wounded herself.
Unable to suppress her emotions she let out a growl.
'I am back Xeozar ,to reclaim you , what is rightfully mine and shall belong to me as your one true Queen . I have returned to reward you for your unwavering patience the BLOOD BATH of your traitors' she proclaimed to herself .
She was tranced back from her thoughts by the sound of footsteps of someone approaching .
General Gabriel Kazorus stopped beside her and bowed . She waved her hand stopping him from standing in ceremony.
" Your Highness it is prudent for us to hasten our return to Cave Ives , it has been several days since our departure, and I have received word that your loyal subjects are restless and fraught with concern regarding your well being ," he said in a caring and gentle voice .
" General Gabriel I am no longer the kid in need of protection anymore ," she stated, her words lacked emotion.
'He is earnestly urging me to leave because he understands the pain this sight beholds , the poignant burdens this place carries , it has more dreadful memories attached to life that it outweighs my beautiful cherished childhood , those can't be erased or forgotten over the passage of time even if one wanted to. General Gabriel Kazorus my former self-defence instructor and commander of the Princess Royals Battalion , an enduring companion of my late mother , a true friend . He has watched my evolution from a gentle kind child to now a vicious woman' she has an understanding of him all too well , his sentiments a wellspring of empathy , he pities her.
" Andrine, my dear child, forget this game of vengeance. It will not yield you any good ,rather will only add new wounds upon your existing sufferings ," he implored genuinely in his attempt to persuade her .
' I chose to feign ignorance though for I am not the only soul upon whom the skies broke through . Left down in the dumps . He has endured the loss of his family too and grieves the departure of his own two beautiful daughters , Alina and Arena. Who were inseparable twins , my dearest best friends. His wife , Aunt Alisha who was an amazing soul , showered me with love . She was my guardianmother , she loved me more than my own 'blood' aunt did. Everyone in Cave Ives has known the ache of loosing someone dear to their heart , abandoning us reduced to tears. Yet his immutable courage to move on instead of dwelling in the shadows of the past is beyond me , a mystery I contemplate ' she thought.
" Sufferings are indelible, carved into the very core of our existence. Betrayals are not to be forgotten. The ghosts of the past, might be the burden but it's a burden I will and shall carry till eternity, a memoir of my vengeance . Pain is a sensation to revel in , it forges your strength to strike back tenfold , hold onto it and it will burn you in rage . Forgetting the betrayal , the teachery we've endured . Do not forget that easily , is it really attainable ? Nooo , it is not. It's a Sin . I shall not forget , and neither shall you ," she hissed back , her words declaring the profound agony she carried and her unyielding commitment to exact vengeance , blazing anger towards their traitors in her tone.
The BETRAYAL costed her , her everything , everything .
" At least await for his return " he says , alluding to the sole person she confined herself in . The anchor of her life .
Reference of his presence brought warmth to her being , her face lit up at the mere mention of his name , all the anger , the frustration she felt moments before vanished and a tender smile formed on her lips . An entire year had passed since she last saw him. A span of time weighed with longing and anticipation .
" It will be presented as a gift of appreciation for his noble and valiant deeds ," she said amusingly , a mischievous-devilish grin appearing upon her face .
Well aware of the consequences of her actions , the impeding repercussions. How furious he would be by her lack of obedience and obstreperous actions but damn the expenses. She would do it anyway.
He has done lot more than enough for her, and now it is her opportunity to return the care and warmth he has bestowed upon her. She will become self-reliant and walk shoulder to shoulder with him.
This time, with anger and annoyance evident in General Gabriel's voice , he emphasized, "Soldiers neither can fight, nor can triumph in battles on their own , without their leader leading them".
"Ives has convergence of Generals , who are more than willing and resolute to put their life at stake to reclaim their native land , their kingdom and to avenge themselves , seek retribution for what they have lost at the hands of traitors . Beyond the walls of Ives to the handful I am alive to, eagerly awaits upon an invitation to earn my trust, to curry favours and I am more than delighted to provide them with this chance to prove their worth , their merit," she replied firmly, leaving no room for further persuasion, as his continuous nagging had begun to grate her nerves.
"But....," General Gabriel wanted to say something more in defense to his context, but Alexandrine cut him off.
"I will lead my army , I am their queen," she announced her decision in stone cold voice.
At least this way she could protect him , her solace , even if it meant only till the near future . It was not that he was incapable of looking after himself, but rather , she was not prepared to lose the last person who was dear to her .
Turning her back to the palace, moving towards the forest.
She said in a serene, calm tone that rang destruction , evacuating General Gabriel in shock and perplexation.
"Prepare the soldiers we are going to war and snatch what belongs to us. We will ambush Xeozar in seven days".
HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE IT .
