Everyone arrived and were given schedules. I wondered if I would make any friends. I took my schedule and found my homeroom, Mr Alaan's class. He seemed like a friendly guy and he knew what he was doing. He gave us assigned seating. Every table had four desks, with 2 boys and 2 girls. We had to get to know each of our table mates, and honestly that was a struggle. The boy who sits across from me seemed very nice. "H-Hi... I'm Caden," he stuttered. He had light blonde hair and freckles, along with dark blue- almost black- glasses. "I'm Michael," I replied. "You can call me Mike." The two girls seemed like they were already getting along. I sit by a girl named Kass, and the girl across from her is Evelyn. I noticed that Caden looked at me often. What's he thinking? Oh come on Michael, it's the first day of school. Don't take it personal. About an hour after getting to know each other and getting our history books, next class was art with Ms Page. Same classmates. I decided to sit by Caden just so I can get to know him better and I'm not scattered around with friendship labels. "Alright class, settle down!" Ms Page declared. "Today we are going to be making self-portraits!" I hard some "Ugh"'s and some "Hooray"'s throughout the classroom, but I didn't find a need to say anything. I gave a thumbs-up and left it at that. Caden however got very excited. Then I remembered he had said he likes drawing. He wasn't able to show me any o his art pieces since he didn't bring any with him, so I was excited to see what he's capable of. We all were handed a piece of paper and baskets with coloured pencils, markers, crayons, erasers... I made mine the same way I looked. Black glasses, light brown, blonde-ish hair, and a light blue background to represent my favourite colour. As I was adding some clothing I decided to look at Caden's drawing. Wow, I thought. I looked at him to see if it had a good resemblance, and honestly, he got it almost perfect. A baggy, short-sleeve tie-dye shirt with a grey long-sleeve shirt under it, along with dark blue jeans. His background was even better! He had a light pink dragon and a light purple dragon, along with a clarinet. Maybe he plays clarinet! "Caden, do you play clarinet?" I asked. "Yeah, it's fun! Why?" I shrugged, "Just curious since you put a clarinet drawing in our background." "Oh, heh, does it look good?" His face turned a little red. Was he blushing? "Yeah!" I said with enthusiasm.
