A Helping Hand

333 Words
After school, I decided to help Caden with things at home. I can imagine it being scary to see your parents get arrested, then get new parents. But, understandably, he was pretty happy about this change. I helped him clean the house. After awhile, we spent the rest of the evening chatting. Mom even offered to let me stay over. She brought my stuff and headed back home. "Do your parents know yet?" Asked Caden. "No," I replied, "Why?" "Because I care, Michael. Why are you hiding it? Your parents are nice people." "I guess you're right... I'm just nervous. I have no idea why" "Maybe we can do it together?" He offered. "I can help you. Just think, if I could tell my crazy parents, I'm 100% sure you can tell your considerate ones." That gave me instant courage. "I'll call her," I said, "But please help" "Definitely!" He said. I went ahead and dialed her, and put it on speaker. Hey sweetie, how are you doing? I'm doing okay, I just need to um.. tell you something. Is dad home? Yes, does he need to hear this too? Yeah, actually, that would be great Alright, I'll go get him. Okay, I'm back. Okay, well... I don't know how to really say this but um... what if I told you I like guys..? Oh sweetie, I accept you for who you are! You're my son after all. Oh here's what your dad wants to say Hey Michael, your mom and I love you no matter what. I hope you know that Heh, I do now! Wanna say "hi" to Caden? Well hello Caden! Hiii! Caden is the one who gave me the courage to tell you guys. Talk to you guys more about it tomorrow? Sure thing! Have a fun sleepover :) Thank you Caden I hung up. I felt.. amazing. "Thank you so so much Caden... I.. I can't thank you enough!!" I hugged him a little too tight by accident.
