Chapter 2

1006 Words
Stephanie dreaded the first day of school especially since she was the new girl. Forest land high wasn't a big school which did not work in her favour either, as she walked through the door and into the hallway she felt the dozens of eyes measuring her up seeing if she was ripe for the picking. She got nervous as the staring turned into silent whispers, in the one week that she had been here she really hadn't made any friends at all. Apart from Fergus and the cute boy she met on the first day, she literally had not met anyone else. The manor was a far distance from the town and she didn't bother going into town but she explored the large wooded area behind the manor. Aunt Lily told her that the entirety of the forest down to the river stream a few miles into the woods was their family property and Steph found it totally insane that her aunt literally owned a forest. "What a weirdo like who dresses like that," "And look at her hair she clearly has no sense of style." Steph turned around and stopped to see who made the comments only to collide with a small petite girl. "Watch where you're going you i***t!" "Well if you both had eyes you would have missed me," Steph said as she read the duo standing before her. The girl she hit was still reeling from the collision. From her expensive attire, the designer three inch heels and the over the top jewelry she knew what she was dealing with, it was familiar territory clashing with the spoilt brats in her former high school. She prided herself in taking no s**t from anyone she certainly wasn't going to bow down to two girls she easily dwarfed even with their heels. The second girl reddened up after hearing steph's statement she almost thought she would blow. The surrounding students in the hallway became visibly tense and kept a safe distance away from the three. "Your new here so we will give you...." the petite girl stopped her friend from continuing on as her face frowned in a menacing manner of intimidation, " As my friend said your new here so you may not know how things work but this is the last time you insult me got it?" Steph was the least bit impressed by the girls attempt to spook her it was basic 101 mean girl intimidation. She lost her previous anger and smirked at the girl, "I know how a school runs thank you very much maybe you're the lost one I mean you're dressed like a w***e and you act like one too." Stephanie heard audible gasps and giggles around her and from the two girls shocked expressions she knew her comment had landed hard. The girls seemed lost for words, so she turned around to walk away but was stopped by the petite girl who held onto her arm. Her grip was tight and cold and her more fierce facial look got stephanie second guessing her decision to publicly roast her. "You little b***h you think you're smart but smart gets you dead in these parts," Her grip tightened and steph began to feel a searing pain growing in her arm. It was like a ice cold knife was been slowly plunged into her skin and she fought the urge to scream out as she tried hard to equal her oppressor's menacing gaze. "That's enough," a deep voice Stephanie recognized as her warrior prince's said. The girl immediately let go of Stephanie's arm as she quickly turned around smiling. The girls sudden change in demeanor startled her as she looked up to see her saviour . Capproach them flanked on both sides by two muscular boys about the same height as he was. The one on the left was way more ripped than his counterparts, he had the same hair style and colour as her crush and a nasty looking cut on his right cheek. The guy on the right was blonde and lankier and for some reason was smiling at her making her feel much more uncomfortable. "Leave her alone Layna she's not worth your time," The words hit Steph right through the heart, he said it like she was a silly little toy to be thrown around. She hated herself in that moment for feeling so vulnerable in his presence even though he never bothered to talk or look at her. "Come on Darwin you heard what she said she needs to know her place," Layna said as she clung onto Darwin in erotic fashion to try and persuade him. Darwin looked the least bit amused as Steph cringed at the girls display. She felt like punching her repeatedly with no stop as anger built up inside of her. He is mine. Darwin moved a step away from Layna, an act that left her visibly saddened, "No she is part of the Davis family that makes her untouchable." Without another word the three boys walked past them and disappeared around the corner. Layna was still frowning watching the empty corner the boys past through until her friend snapped her out of it, "Let's go will be late for class." "Yeah let's go," Layna's tone was sad and lost all its charisma and power as they too walked past Stephanie without uttering a single word. Stephanie couldn't believe what drama she just got herself into, she wondered why the Darwin guy stood up for when he barely knew her at all. Why did he bring her family name into the discussion and why did the mean girls back off so quickly without a fuss when he told them to. Who ever he was he seemed to be the one in charge in school but she still couldn't figure out why he came to her house the other day or what the identical tattoos meant. Whatever was going on Stephanie knew that she was way deep in the dark.
