Greer’s POV
"Get your ass down here, Greer. The fashion designer is already here waiting for you." My Mom snorted from the living room.
"Just a minute." I said, turning.
I was still talking to Cassey. She was back here in the country after leaving for eight months. She went to Korea to sort out some things with her parents. They wanted her to get into an arranged marriage with a son of one of their business associates. That was what we were discussing before my mom's loud voice interrupted us.
"So tell me what, are you physically and sexually attracted to him?"
"Ew no!" She answered in irritation. "I tried making it work but we didn't click. That bastard is a creepy nerd who always want to f**k the s**t out of me. Not everything is about s*x. We have to connect emotionally on a deeper level. I am out of that hell hole." She added.
I sighed.
"C'mon. Your situation there is not as bad as mine. At least no one is forcing you into an arranged marriage. My life just sucks." She said,
"You are right. The only problem I have here is just the rumors that my mom slept her way up and now that their marriage is in three days, it is much worse." I explained to her. Of course, I couldn't tell her that I sucked my stepfather’s d**k. I don't know if Cassey was going to judge me. I just can't tell her yet. This is not meant to be said on the phone. I can't bring myself to tell her. What if she judged me?
I also cannot imagine my mom setting me up with a man or forcing me into an arranged marriage. I know myself. I will escape and never come back. Veda isn't that cruel to do that to me.
"Don't worry. People say whatever they want. The rumors will die down later on. f**k public opinions. Your mom's decision to remarry shouldn't lead to your sadness. I mean you should be happy that she finally found love after what happened to your father." Cassey let out and I don't know if I should be happy or sad about their marriage. Even though I disagreed, it had nothing to do with me.
Veda will do anything she wants even if it gives me discomfort and it benefits her. I should know her by now.
If I don't give her my blessings or let her do whatever she wants, she would think I don't want her to be happy. I don't need to do anything. She will go on with it whether I like it or not.
"Greer! You don't want me dragging you out of there by your hair right?" She interrupted again and I had no choice but to say goodbye to Cassey. She promised to be here the night before the wedding day.
The call ended and I turned around and walked back to the living room. Indira was already there with her personal assistant. She sat down, scrolling through her phone while also showing the fashion designer how she wanted her dress to look like. Though it was already on the mannequin but it was half finished. It was an orange dress. I didn't bother looking at the details.
I looked around and also located my own dress on the mannequin. I scanned it from the big bow at the cleavage, to the deep V line below which was going to expose my side boob if I wore it, down to the flared linen. I scoffed. I didn't like the dress one bit. In fact, I hate it. I wasn't allowed to choose what I wanted for f**k sake.
The second fashion designer turned to me. A short woman in her late thirties.
"Do you like the dress? Is it -"
"No, I don't. Are you seriously expecting me to wear this to the wedding? This is so terrible." I voiced my opinion. I have every right to say what I want when it comes to what I will wear on my body.
Veda shot me a death glare and approached me immediately like she was going to hit me or something. Indira gasped in shock too.
"What's this behaviour, Greer? Are you trying to sabotage my wedding? You ungrateful child!" She almost yelled. I sat down and folded my arms making her boiling in anger.
"First off, you didn't allow me to choose my gown or design it and you expect me to wear that rag? Make it make sense, mom. I am not wearing that dress. The fact that I am even agreeing to this wedding, shouldn't you do me a favour and let me choose my style and not force this rag down my throat?"
She gritted her teeth in fury. This was my way of telling her that I grant her my blessings to get married to Calder. But I won't let her have it easily. I will make her sweat.
"You are embarrassing me!" She said through gritted teeth, looking around.
I didn't even look a bit fazed at all. I wanted my dress to be solely designed and approved by me..
"Yes, you are embarrassing her. Suck it up, Greer. We won't allow you to ruin this wedding." Indira finally butt in.
I shot her a death glare. "Only my mom and I are allowed to talk here, do not meddle. This is family matters. Stay out of it!" I blurted not knowing what got into me. I just needed to show her where she belonged.
I shifted my gaze to Veda.
"And you, if you don't want me to embarrass you, then do me a favour and let me design my own dress. I am not going to allow you to force me into some piece of shit." I talked back.
Veda didn't drag it further. "Fine! Do what you want but the moment you wear something not befitting, you will get in trouble with me." She scoffed.
I rolled my eyes.
"I will email you what I want..you just need to bring it to life. And no one is allowed to expose my dress before the wedding. The moment it gets leaked, you won't see even my shadow at the wedding and that's going to be your nightmare, mom. I am sure you don't want it." I warned and headed outside before she or Indira would say anything else.
I will just wait for them outside so we can go to the mall and get this stupid schedule over with.
I am sick and tired of this crazy wedding preparations.
I think I want to give up now..
