Greer’s POV
I stared at the lenses in shock. This can't be. This man can't taunt me with things like this. How can this be? Why didn't I notice that apart from the CCTV camera in the house, there was another hidden camera completely. This can't be real. Earlier today, what if...
What if he saw what I was doing with his father? What if he saw how his c**k kept hitting my throat? What kind of a person was he? Wells. Was he spying on his own father in the mansion? I was sure it must have been there before we were invited in.
Before I could even say something, he bent and started packing them hurriedly as if he was being chased by someone. Something pushed me to start asking questions but after packing the lenses, he was acting like nothing had happened. He fiddled with the key and got the car opened. He went to the other side and opened the car door for me. I was in awe. In fact, I was passing through different emotions at the same time.
Sadness, Anger, and Anxiety. These emotions surged through me, spreading like a wildfire that I have to quench it before it completely destabilized me. No, what was I even saying? I was already destabilized. It was like this man was indirectly trying to ruin my life. Trying to ruin my relationship with my mom. Even though Veda never cared about me, I still don't want her to learn about what I have done with her husband. She will hate me forever. No. She will kill me and offer my remains to wild animals to feed on because ever since I was born, she had always thought that I was a mistake. That I ruined her life. That I was the reason for her misfortune. Our misfortune.
I sighed.
Veda can't know anything about this. Not by mistake, not from me, not from Calder and certainly not from Wells. Wells is going to hate me forever. Probably beat me to a pulp and expose it on the Internet.
No, no, no. I think I am already going too far with this. Besides, it doesn't even look like he knows anything. But I still have to make sure of it. One wrong move will let the cat out of the bag. One slightest mistake of mine will cause a man-made disaster.
Fuck me.
He cleared his throat and started the car and it raced down the road.
Throughout the drive to where we were supposed to meet his friends, he was quiet, making me feel nervous and scared that I began to do a mind-search on where the camera was. Which part of the house did he fix them? Was it my room? My mom's? Calder’s? The maids quarters?
No, I think I am already thinking about this too much than I can handle. This is risky. It's going to get even more risky if I ever try to look for the cameras. I can't get in trouble for this one too.
Knowing the kind of person Wells was, he won't hesitate to get suspicious that I was doing inappropriate things with his dad.
"I am still kinda trying to figure out your mom. Veda. I don't know what it is that she wants from my dad. I don't even know if she is trustworthy enough to -"
I sighed heavily and turned to look at him. He kept his eyes on the road.
"Trustworthy enough to love your dad? Listen Wells. My mom might be everything but she doesn't play or joke with her feelings at all. She meant good for this family and so do I." I explained.
"I don't know why I haven't given her my blessings yet. This delay is foolishness. I know one when I see it." I added, staring out of the window.
Wells didn't say anything else. He only watched me as I ruffled my hair. "I think I needed some time to set things straight with me and get used to the fact that she was remarrying."
He only nodded. We didn't say anything to each other again until after we arrived at the newly opened bar. The car halted and I stepped out. Wells locked the car and led me into the building. It was such a huge building painted in pure white and dark blue colour. A golden plated "Wells bar & Lounge" was glued up on the wall. Wait, he was the owner of this place?
I looked around and found different cars parked. They were up to twenty or thirty. Wow. "It's a new bar and it has become so popular."
"Yes, it is. This is one of my properties, Greer. If you are ready to get your business opened, I will happily invest in it." He answered and I covered my mouth. I didn't realize that I was thinking out loud.
"Thank you." I replied, knowing that I wasn't interested in all these kinds of settings. We stepped into the building and the interior design was crazy. All these rich people know how to handle things. I got pulled out of my thoughts when we walked to the VIP section and two men and a woman were already waiting for us. As soon as we got there, the woman was the first to get up and pull Wells into a hug. She was a petite, brunette-haired woman.
"Hello, baby. I have missed you."
Baby?
They kissed and I looked the other way. The two men said hello to me. Wells pulled away from the woman after showering her with kisses.
"Sorry. Guys, this is my stepsister, Greer," he paused and also turned to the men, “and Greer, this is Collins," he introduced the blonde haired man with an emerald eyes to me.
"He is Damon."
Damon is a dark haired man. He looked bubbly and was the first to shake hands with me. I gladly took his handshake and withdrew my hand as I waited for Wells to introduce the woman to me and he wasted no time to tell me who she was.
"And lastly Greer, this is Indira. My girlfriend."
I smiled at her and it was too bad that she didn't do the same. It was like she didn't like me.
I looked away from her and faced the other two guys.
"Nice to meet you guys. My name is Greer."
We chatted while Indira only clung to Wells as if he was going to get snatched away from her or does she see me as a threat? What threat? I barely even know her and I have only known Wells too for just a few days.
Honestly, I wasn't interested in whatever they were saying. I just wanted to go home. My head was already spinning from everything that has happened today. I just want to rest already or I might pass out.
I just want to understand why Wells had cameras planted in the house. That thought made my head throbbed in pain the more.
Finally, we got home. I said good night to him as I entered my room.
I held my chest in fear as I found a man’s shadow sitting on my couch.
This was enough.
Things got blurry in my eyes and my brain shut down.
I passed out.
