I could barely focus on Lily’s words. My brain and muscles were still stuck in that second before I hit him. I narrowed my eyes on her.
“what?”
“Yeah, you assumed I was changing because I wanted Taser back. I didn’t feel the need to correct you.” She shrugged. “Apparently Taser also thinks I’m changing for him, the smug bastard.”
A sliver of relief slid through me. It was good she wasn’t trying to get him back. Now that the thought was wiped from my head, it made more sense that she was doing it for herself.
“He couldn’t handle you, which is why he tried to change you. What I’m trying to understand is why you went along with it.”
