PROLOGUE

335 Words
Prologue As I stand here in the doorway, taking one final look around the room that has been my haven for the past four years, I can't help but feel a tinge of sadness mixed with a sense of excitement. This room has been my refuge, my sanctuary, and my prison all at once. I've spent countless hours locked away in here, hiding from the world and the memories that haunt me. But now it's time to leave. Time to break free from the chains that have held me captive in this room and in this house. Leaving this room is bittersweet. On one hand, I'm eager to start anew, to create a life for myself that isn't tainted by the past. But on the other hand, I'm terrified of what lies ahead. Will I ever be able to form attachments to people again? Or will I forever be trapped in this cycle of fear and mistrust? As I take one last look around the room, I can't help but feel a sense of gratitude. This room has been my safe haven, my escape, and my confidante. It has witnessed my darkest moments, and yet it has always been a place of solace. And now, it's time to say goodbye. With a deep breath, I step out of the room and into the unknown. It's time to start a new chapter of my life, to leave behind the pain and the hurt, and to embrace a future filled with hope and possibility. I'm not sure who I'm actually running away from my aunt, this room, the memories or... him. No one believed me when I told them about them. My aunt called me crazy and mentally retarded when I narrated the events of that evening. But now two years later they all know that I was right that I was telling the truth. Now that they have seen them with their own eyes, now they believe me. Hi! I'm Catherine and this is my story.
