CARRIE

Chapter Thirty-Five

We continued checking and found some more books about rituals and necromancy. I went back to where I was searching and went from one corner to another, carefully looking at the books. I picked up a book about Necromancy and its side effects. I flipped through the pages and as I was closing the book, something fell from it. I looked at the ground and searched for it. I pointed my flashlight at it, it was a key. I stared at it for some seconds, before calling their attention to it. "I found another key" I waved it for them to see. "This means there's another storage" Carrie suggested. We went back to where I found the key and we were searching through the shelves when I found a note. It was attached loosely to the book beside the one where I found the key. I removed the note and read it out, “You've found the first piece, move on to the second piece to know more”. I flipped the piece of paper, there was nothing at the other side. “Well, looks like we're done here. We'll check the next storage for more clues” Carrie said as she packed the bag the books were stuffed in. We locked the two rooms and left.

Carrie and Leah were talking about the things we found out about in those rooms, my mind had wandered because I didn't hear both of them calling my name until Leah nudged me. “What are you thinking about?” Carrie asked. “We can't go to the second storage today. It's not safe, it'll be too suspicious. I'll rather us wait to avoid trouble” I explained to both of them. It would be especially suspicious if it was the same storage company, we didn't have time to look at the key properly so I have no idea what company it belongs to. They both agreed, “we'll go tomorrow then” Carrie said as we left the building.

On our way out, we saw the same security. “Find what you're looking for?” He asked.

Back in the Car, we were about to pull out of the driveway when Leah leaned into the front and poked her head between me and Carrie, “I don't know about you guys but I could really use an ice cream right now. I mean the kind that makes your teeth shake and give you serious brain freeze”. I laughed, “Sure, that would be nice”. We stopped at the best ice cream place in town and enjoyed some in their parking lot before driving Leah home.

It was already night when we pulled into the driveway. We entered the house and my Mom was already home. “Hey guys, been waiting for you a while now” She hugged us as we sat down. “So how did it go? Did you guys find any lead, anything at all?” She asked. “Yeah we found quite a bit actually. We brought back a couple of books. Oh and we found a key. So there's another storage room, we decided to wait till tomorrow befoore we check out the place” I explained to her and Carrie showed her what was in the bag. “Okay, that's nice. Just please be careful.. Dinner is ready you guys, go freshen up and we'll continue our discussion during dinner”.

I entered my room and looked around before jumping on the bed. I sank into it immediately. After a long and stressful day filled with several surprises, I just wanted to sleep. My eyes were closing but I forced them open, I still had to eat dinner and plan with Carrie and my Mom. I hope we get our answers quick, this whole thing is turning out to be really stressful and could be dangerous.

I stepped into the shower still thinking about it.

I went back downstairs and Carrie was already with Mom, they were both setting the table properly for dinner. “So what time do we leave for the storage room tomorrow?” Carrie asked as I entered the kitchen. I scratched my head, I haven't exactly thought that far about it. I finally decided on a time within myself, “I think 11:00 AM would be okay.. Or what do you think?” I asked her as we sat down for dinner. “I think it's fine...” She paused for a moment before continuing, “Yeah it'll be good, we'll have enough time after breakfast and Leah would be here by then”. We agreed on the time
