All of a sudden I hear some hubbub and some voices. Male voices. I get up and follow the noise.
"Ronnie take the bag with you."
I come to the entrance hallway and see bunch of men. They are all dressed in work suits and are carrying tool cases.
"Good morning miss!"
One of them spots me. He seems like he's the youngest of them, with baby face and an sincere smile.
That drags the attention of other and they greet me as well.
"Up we go! There is a lot of work to do." Says one of them, with a serious look on his face.
The all leave, with Theodore instructing them where to go.
I turn around and head to the kitchen.
"Dianna what's happening?"
"Oh, good morning dear. We've got some workers over here. Theo wanted the heating system to finally get done."
I frown. Who takes care of the heating system just in the middle of the winter.
Then I remember that the only places that got heat are the kitchen, the living room and Diana's room. I never thought of it before. But he's probably never cold. And it makes me wonder how he manages it through the summer.
But that's not actually important. What matters is, if they all have come all the way up here, it means that the roads are clear. If they are clear it means I can leave. And with all these people coming here, there is no way of denying it. I'll be finally free to go home!
But... Then it hit me and the joy dissapeared. Who am I going to. The only family I've known is death. And, ironically, I felt closer to some people I knew for almost a month then some I knew all my life.

The whole day you could hear throbbing and clattering and it became a little annoying. Eventually I ended up helping Dianna with the lunch as we had to feed eight grown up men.
"How long do you think it will take them to get it done?"
"I don't know. But probably not too long. The ground floor and the first floor already have all the tubing. Please would you set the large table in the dining room."
As I'm almost done, Theodore emerges, followed by seven men. They were all young and in full force. You could see that physical labor was in their routine.
They all greeted me happy again.
"Is this your woman T?" Suddenly asks one of them, ogling me.
"Paws to yourself Ben." Replies Theodore sounding unamused.
Later, the whole time as I was coming in bringing and taking the food I could feel Ben's eyes on me. And it started to bother me. He wasn't an ugly man, but there was something about him that seemed crude, almost vulgar.
I ignored him the best I could but it was like he had set his mind on me.
"So where are you from beauty." He asks, not taking his eyes of me.
I glance at Theodore, but he seems to ignore us.
"From L.A." I answer avoiding to look at him.
"And what does a sunny girl do in a cold place like this?"
"Vacationing." Says Theodore before Ben even finished his sentence. He has slightly irritated look on his face and I realise that he isn't enjoying the conversation neither.
I take it as my chance to escape and leave the room.
As I go back to the kitchen I think about my options. Maybe I should use that these people are here, just in case Theodore changes his mind and doesn't let me go. But although I was gotten here against my will, I didn't feel like a prisoner anymore.
And even if Theodore opposed to my leaving, going with someone like Ben wasn't a better option.
But I think I can handle him.

For the next two days I tried to avoid any longer stay amog the troupe. Although everyone was nice, except those unpleasant looks from Ben.
I don't know if I was inventing it, but it seemed that Theodore also got an eye on him. Never letting him roam around all alone.
Yesterday Ben popped in the living room, allegedly looking for the bathroom.
"Hello gorgeous." He called from the doorway.
I stiffed immediately.
"You need something?" I tried to sound polite.
"Just something beautiful to look at."
The words aside, his attitude made it sound filthy.
"Found the bathroom Ben?" Suddenly Theodore called from behind him.
"Yeah, I was just asking the pretty lady for the way."
"You missed the turn, it's on the right." I have spent enough time with Theodore to know when he sound pissed.
Ben stayed for a while at the doorway eyeing me, then finally left.
"Yeah man, friggin huge you've got it here." He mumbled going down the corridor.
I exhaled in relief. I'm definitely better off staying here for a while more.

The fourth day, late that day, Theodore finally came looking for me.
The previous days felt like eternity. I was impatient to talk to him,to ask him to take me home. I was looking forward to finally get to my home, to the sunshine and warmth, my clothes…
"The works are done, so it will be a lot calmer around."
"Great. I wanted to talk…"
"Can you come with me for a sec?"
What does he want now? This is unusual coming from him…
"Come." He says with a reassuring smile, stretching his hand towards me.
I hesitate a little, but finally put my hand into his.
He takes me up to the second floor and stops in front of a door.
"Close your eyes." He says turning to me.
"What? Why?" I ask him confused.
"Just close them. And don't peek!"
I hear the door open and he takes me by the hands. We take a few steps and finally stop.
"Okay. Open your eyes."
I opened my eyes, and right after them my mouth too. The room is like nothing I've ever seen before. It's large, extravagant, all in colors of gold and burgundy. It has king sized canopy bed in the middle, and an ottoman at it's bottom. There are two big wardrobe closets at the one side of the room and opposite to them are two armchairs and a small table. A dressing table is close to the windows that have drapery curtains. The chandelier is massive and seems like it was made of diamonds.
"What is this?" I ask in low voice, fascinated.
"Your room. You'll stay here now."
"I can't stay here.."
"Why not?" There is a little anger in his voice.
"I have my own home. I can't..."
"What, daddy's little princess, even a castle is not enough." He says with a growl, now clearly pissed.
"What are you talking about. It's not like that!"
"Then what is it!"
"I can't stay! I have my own place, my own life!"
"Fine! You'll leave first thing in the morning!"
And just like that he left the room.
