Luke woke up when someone stirred in front of him. As he opened his eyes, he saw the woman still sleeping peacefully on his chest. They were still on the bed in a sitting position, with her on his lap and her head resting gently on his chest. He smiled at this.
It was already bright outside and he can hear the sound of cars passing by. It was already morning. They slept throught the night in that position. He felt a little sore for sleeping like that but he was strangely not complaining about it.
He carefully stood up, carrying the woman in his hands, gently laid her down on the bed and covered her with a blanket. He looked at his phone and saw that it was already too late for breakfast but still too early for lunch. Trying his best not to make a sound, he went out of the room and gently closed the door.
‘I should cook something up before she wakes up,’ he thought as walked down the stairs.
The kitchen was not his domain but he can still cook. He opened his fridge and checked what ingredients he had. He didn’t know what food she liked or if she was allergic to anything. he’s not sure what to cook. He kept satring at the stuff in his fridge. After while he finaly decided what to cook.
‘I guess, I’ll just cook chicken curry,’ he thought.
He was about to take it off the pot when he heard the woman in his bedroom scream hysterically.
He ran up to his bedroom and saw two women. One was pressed on the bed, thrashing hysterically, trying to flee the other woman’s grip.
“SARAH!” he shouted. “What the heck are you doing?” He shouted as he ran over to them. He pushed Sarah out of the bed and hugged the crying woman.
“It’s okay, it’s okay, I’m here now. I won’t let her hurt you,” he whispered soothingly at the woman.
“What the heck, Luke!” Sarah said angrily. “Who is this, b***h? And why is she wearing your shirt?”
When Luke heard that voice, rage overtook him. He let go of the woman and grabbed Sarah’s arm and dragged her forcefully out of the room.
“What the hell are you doing here Sarah?” he asked in gritted teeth. He was very angry.
“What do you think? I’m here to see my fiance, who I haven’t seen for a year,” Sarah said.
“What? Fiance?” Luke said in disbelief. “Get that thought out of your head, Sarah. I will never marry you.”
“You will, eventually,”Sarah said, confidence lacing her voice.
“Shut up! Will you? GET OUT!” Luke said, seething in anger.
“Oh, Luke, I know you will come looking for me soon and that girl in your bedroom, will be gone in no time,” Sarah said and left.
Luke just sighed and calmed himself down before entering the room. There she was, the woman who made him feel inexplicable things overnight. He went to her but she flinched and moved away. He wa a bit hurt and worried. As strange as it sounds, he cares too munch for this stranger who wouldn’t even tell him her name.
“Hey, it’s me. I promised you right?” Luke said, kneeling near the bed as he took her hand. “I will never hurt you, and I keep promises.”
She stared at him for a while, as if making sure that he wasn’t lying. A little while later, she seemed to calm down a little which made him smile.
“Now, stop crying and let’s go down for some food. Okay?” Luke asked as he pulled away some of the hair covering her face and wiped her tears.
She nodded slowly. He stood up and offered her his hand which she hesitantly took. They were about to walk when her knees gave out. They were shaking and she didn’t have the strength to move them.
“Is it okay if I carry you down to the kitchen?” he asked her. She shook her head and stood up but her knees gave out and she fell to the floor. Luke immediately caught her in his arms.
“I’ll carry you to the kitchen,” he said. She just nodded in response and let him carry her.
He noticed that she doesn’t talk too much and was always doubtful of everything around her. They got to the kitchen and he sat her down on a stool in front of the kitchen counter.
“Wait here okay?” he said then went to serve the food.
He put the plate in front of her.
* * *
As he was carrying her down to the kitchen, she could smell something good. She was sure it would taste deliciously as it smells.
When he served the food, she wasn’t sure what it was and she also wasn’t sure if she could eat it. It was looked yellowish and had chicken and some vegetables in it.
The man, Luke, just stood in front of her. She looked at him, unsure of what she should do.
“Eat,” Luke said. She just nodded and took the spoon. She tried it and it tasted really good. It was the best food she’s eaten so far. She kept on taking a bite silently, savoring the taste, until she unconsciously finished what was served. When she realized this, she looked at Luke in fear.
‘Oh, s**t, I finished everything. He will kill me for sure,’ she thought.
“I’m sorry, I finished it all, I’m sorry please don’t hurt me,” she said and kept her head down.
Luke frowned at her reaction. Now, he’s very curious with what this woman went through for her to be like this.
“Hey,” Luke said gently as he put his index finger under her chin and lifted her head. “I promised you right? And I don’t break promises,” Luke said.
She calmed down and stared back at him. He had beautiful eyes. It was a deep set of blue and she felt like she’d drown in them. She realized what she was doing and felt her cheeks warm up. She was blushing an dshe was embarassed.
Luke chuckled at her, took the plate and put more food in it. He served it to her, but when she was about to grab the spoon, he took it from her.
She looked at him puzzled, then started to be afraid again. She was about to get off the stool but, Luke grabbed her hand. She stopped and looked at him. She was surprised when she saw him holding the spoon full of food in front of her.
‘What is he doing?’ she asked herself.
Luke held the spoon closer to her mouth. He urged her to open her mouth and she did. When she ate it, he smiled then he himself took a bite, using the same spoon.
It didn’t disgust him or her, it just kind of felt normal. They kept doing this until they were full. Strangely enough, they were very comfortable with each other in a very small amount of time, but they didn’t mind that.
