Conrad’s POV   After a long hot shower, I dried myself, dressing in a grey t-shirt and black jeans, I walked in bare feet to my draws in search of socks. It was then Kon mind-linked me. “Quick! Conrad to the bed!” He hissed. I frowned. “Uh ok?” I say walking over to my bed I sat down. “No what?-..” I tried to ask as everything went black.     Ivy POV After breakfast, Broc assured me he was happy to clean up. I headed back the room grabbing my phone and bag, I saw two texts and a few missed calls from Florain. It was almost 10 o’clock, I thought about texting her then dismissed the thought. Instead deciding to bring up my dilemma with Broc I headed back to the kitchen. I re-entered the kitchen, bag and phone in hand, taking up my seat at the bench, I waited as Broc finished wiping up the bench.  “Hey Broc..” I start, he stops what he’s doing, turning his attention to me. “You’re an Alpha..” I try, he raises an eyebrow at this. “As are you, Alpha QUEEN.” He adds with a tease in his voice. “I know that..” I whine, trying again. “If you had someone.. say a beta under you that disobeyed an order, maybe leaked a secret, how would you punish them?” I finish biting my lip. Broc remains quiet, coming to lean on the counter across from me. “Mmm, first I would demote their position to an Omega in the ranking, then I’d give them a verbal demoting, unlinking my disappointment and depending on the secret, further punishment.” Broc’s words are carefully delivered, the last two pointed, needing no further explanation. “I hope it doesn’t come to ‘further punishment’.” I say tiredly, looking to Broc for reassurance, I’m surprised to find his gaze hardened, and far away when he speaks. “Sometimes if you don’t punish now you pay later.” He says in a cold tone, I hadn’t heard before. Suddenly it wasn’t Broc I saw before me but the Ancient Alpha King he was, his black eyes like polished onyx bore into my soul.  I stood my ground beneath their gaze, both out expressions cold like we’d only just recognised each others true potential, both kind and cruel. Finally seeming satisfied with what he found, Broc soften slightly though his expression remained a cold mask, he looked away first. I exhaled a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding, my body still tense with the short stand off we’d shared, I watched Broc as he leaned on the bench. He tried to roll his shoulders, suddenly I saw him in a new light, yes he’d been kind to me, but recalling that first night, I realized that he could also be intimidating, cold and cruel. His eyes had a far away gaze to them, a distant coldness that had me on alert, a rolling aura of impatience’s and frustration rolled off him in waves, but still his body looked tired and sad. Without consciousness, I stood, walking around the bench, his eyes flickered to me at the movement, I slid my arms around his waist, leaning against his back. I hugged tightly, snuggling into his neck; it was the first time I’d felt vulnerable, fearing his reaction to my affection. After what felt like eternity, his body softened under me, he released a shaking breath. “Hey Ivy?” Broc said. “Yes?” I replied. “Would you ever consider..” He paused, clearing his throat, before continuing, my heart beat wildly at his tone. “Would you ever consider a chosen Mate over a True mate?” He got out, my heart stopped all together. A chosen mate? Broc?     Conrad POV I woke in the dreamscape, my eyes cleared as I blinked first landing on Kon, whom seemed to cower. Then to a woman’s figure whom had her back to me. “Good your awake then.” The woman sneered, turning to face him. Conrad almost scuttled back in fright, the goddess! “I gave you so many chances! So many opportunities!” She shrieked whilst throwing her hands to the sky in disgust. “But no! 10 years wasn’t enough time for you to mature was it?!” She growled, her words causing me to frown in confusion. “You were everything Ivy wanted in a mate, everything except; Loyal, Considerate, Patient and of course pride less. Hmm?” She huffed, running a hand over her face. “It was supposed to be you, but it’s to late for that now, or near too late.” She hissed to herself out loud. “To late for what?” I ask, my heart beating wildly. “What’s it got to do with Ivy?” I ask panic rising in my voice. “Everything.” Says the goddess, an cruel glim in her eye. “Ivy may have found an alternative Mate.” The goddess snaps.  “Not in a million years! Would I have thought that heartless old wolf would fall for her, and her for him, but sure enough, day by day something grows between them!” She growls, I gape, grasping at her words but coming up short. “Grows? Between Ivy and who? Garrett?” I ask, my mind cloudy with the onslaught of information. “No!” The Goddess cackles cruelly. “Between Ivy and the Forbidden King.” My mind clears. “Forbidden King?” I ask. “Yes, Broc the Dark brother, The First Alpha King, The Cursed King, The Forbidden King.” The goddess words are husky and venomous. “Corbain’s brother! Your ex-lover.. Broc? He’s alive?” I ask dumbfounded. “Yes, I granted him to be the most powerful Alpha, along with immortality.” She hisses, her eyes narrow slits as they survey me. “Soon he’ll have your Mate too, for he cares for her like you never did, he protects her like you failed to do, and he loves her like you never could.” The goddess sneers. “Goodbye Conrad, remember Mate or not, you are bound to serve her for eternity, for you are bound by blood and brand.” The goddess reminds, before fading into the darkening forest. “Wait!” I call to her. “Please Goddess!” I’m meet with no reply. When I open my eyes again, I’m laying on my bed in my room, my gut twisting, I knew now that again, the pride that had lost me Ivy once, was the same pride that was about to cost me her again.
