Hiding the dead.

Part 2 of the plan began today, I was fully healed and could no longer stay in the motel, but couldn't leave without explaining to Max what had happened, Mr Walsh had come to help me explain the situation. A knock sounded on the door, Mr Walsh moved to open the door, welcoming Max in, Max smiled at seeing Mr Walsh here but then frowned in confusion. "Is this an intervention?" He joked looking from me to Mr Walsh. "Not at all Max, it's just that Ivy will be leaving the motel today, she wanted to say goodbye but has to explain somethings before she goes." Mr Walsh assures him gently. "Ok, well first of all I'll be sorry to see you go Ivy, You and your friends have really brought life back to the motel, I'm glad I finally got to see it the way my wife envisioned it." Max said smiling at me, he brushed a tear away subtly. "I know Max, I'll be sad to go, I want to say thank you for everything for giving me a room without questions, offering me and Florain work which we both needed, and most of all being my friend." I replied smiling, I strode towards him and without warning, embraced him warmly. Max seemed surprised but quickly returned it, sighing heavily he could sense the following conversation would be heavy. Upon releasing him, he smiled sadly then made his way to the chair beside the table, I sat across from him whilst Mr Walsh pulled up a spare chair from the desk. "Ok so who's going to start?" Max asked. I sighed heavily, raising a hand. "I'll tell you everything, though it may be confusing and maybe angering." I state bluntly, Max only watches warily before nodding. "So my name is Ivy and something has happened, I ran away from home, was followed here by those friends that help us redecorate the rooms, but I was also running from someone else, my dad." I wait a moment before continuing. "Now this won't make sense but my dad and others think I'm dead, and I need to keep it that way, So although I am leaving, If anyone comes looking, I mean anyone, I'm dead, in truth Mr Walsh will know where I am." I finish, Max looks confused as well as overwhelmed, but he again nods. "Ok I can do that, but is there anything I can do for you to help?" He asks sadness and concern in his voice, I think for a moment before nodding. "One thing; can you offer the same rent deal you offered me to Florain?" I ask, Max seems surprised but answer quickly. "Of course I can, If that will help you." Max replies, I nod, he grins then. "Ok done." Then I turn to Mr Walsh who waits. "I want you to offer Florain my job at the bookshop, I know she can do as good a job as I did." I say with confidence. "No one can do as good a job as you Ivy, But I will offer, I still need a worker." Mr Walsh smiles.  I smile thinking about how quickly they trust in my decision and agree to my requests, I'm feeling very appreciative. Max, Mr Walsh and I, sit and talk until the morning blends into afternoon, finally Max has to leave when he remembers he has a booking he needs to get ready for at 4pm, we hug once more before he leaves. A few hours later, another knock wraps on the door, I head to the bathroom to wash my face whilst Mr Walsh opens the door, I'm not surprise to find it's Conrad that enters, he begins talking with Mr Walsh. I return to the room, grabbing my packed bag, I follow the incline of Conrad's head, time to go it seems, I take my time saying goodbye to Mr Walsh, wishing him well until we meet again, and head out, under the cover darkness.  I make my way out into the carpark,  sliding into the idling car, slipping into the back seat, Conrad gets into the drivers seat, Jace sits passenger side, I look to the open doorway where Florain stands, I offer a hand in a wave, which she returns. I'd spoken to her briefly explaining the bookshop and Max's offer, she'd been overjoyed, despite Jace's assurances the pack would accept her, Florain had expressed her reluctance to move there just yet, using my recent incident as ammo, he'd cringed but agreed. I wished her luck, knowing though I could texted her, I'd miss her ridiculously so. We drove for over 4 hours, finally we turned up the dirt track, it wound up through the forest, and up a mountain side, until we arrived at the destination I'd had in mind. Before us a massive log house stood, lights inside gave off a yellow glow, I hadn't told the boys who lived here, only gave them the directions, I got out grabbing my bags. Conrad moved opening his door, only to have me slam it shut on him, He looked confused, rolling down the window. "You guys can go now, the goddess specified that now one else was to stay here, so you have to go." Conrad looked ready to argue but when I raised an eyebrow he thought better of it and only nodded. In a moment they headed off, the tail lights fading into the night, obscured by the plume of dust the car left in its wake. "So Ivy, You've arrived." I startled a little, frowning as I followed the voice, staring into the darkness to my right, a chuckle followed the comment. "Sharp one aren't we?" The voice continued. "Most would look to the door since the lights on. "Most think with their logic not instincts, follow your ears when listening, your eyes when looking, and logic sparingly." I replied firm but informatively, waiting for a face to the voice. "Interesting indeed, well you're off to a good start Ivy." The voice said, as a hulking form stalked from the shadow into the edge of the light, he was as powerful and intimidating as she'd expected, though indeed gave off the odour of loss and loneliness. "So do you know who I am Ivy?" The wicked voice teased... "I do." I replied firmly, I don't back down, as I stared into the two pitless black eyes. "Well?" He encouraged. "Reluctant to make your acquaintance, Broc." I say bluntly. He chuckles, a broken and empty sound, with a razor edge of promise. "What a interesting toy the goddess sent me? quite the gift." He sneers.
