Ivy POV I tossed and turned most of the night, my mind on last nights events, I knew morning was close but it was still dark out. Huffing I decided it was time to get up, pulling back the covers, I slid my feet onto the cold slate, shivering at the chill that ran up my legs from the contact. I stretched, wearing only an over size t-shirt and my undies, I didn’t bother dressing, I knew I needed to shift and go for a very long run. I threw the t shirt over my head onto the bed, sliding the undies off, I stood naked in the bedroom, the door already slight ajar, I shifted into my wolf form.  Then quietly, I nudged the door open and padded through the house. I was taken aback, when I noticed the light was still in the kitchen, I’d planned to head straight out but curiosity got the better of me, when I heard not one but two male voices. My ears twitching, I heard Broc’s clearly but another chuckled in reply to something, I couldn’t place. I creeped closer, my ears strained forward, my eyes watched for movements. “Broc you can’t be serious?” The voice said, in a causal easy tone. “Cade, I’m dead serious, I don’t think she’ll betray me, I think even if she did, my feelings wouldn’t change.. I think she’s the closest I’ve come to a mate, except that one…” Says Broc, trailing off. “Now Broc, lets not dwell on that one.. She was barely a blink of your existence..” Cade the other wolfs says. “Yeah you’re right, still it irks me, that snake of a wolf.. No Ivy, she’s so much more then a faze, still I’m to see him in a week or two..” Broc says, his voice gravelly. “What Brody?” Cade says with surprise, stopping me in my tracks, Brody?...No… “Yeah, old snake’s out and about it seems, something’s stirred him out of his hole..” Broc replies with disgust. I back away from the door, retracing my original path towards the front door, I turned and nudge it open with a creak, the voices in the kitchen pause. I don’t wait, slipping out into the night, I exhaled, shaking out the nerves under the crescent moon above. I run, just as I hear footsteps moving from the kitchen towards the front door of the log cabin. I sprint out into the night, my black coat quickly shielding me among the darkness.     Broc POV I walk to the doorway, barely a second too slow, I watch as Ivy’s wolf form sprints into the darkness. Her shimmering black coat like liquid, merging with the night, only her eyes had given her away for a brief moment. “Was that her?” Cade asked as he walked up behind me, looking over my shoulder at where I’d last seen Ivy. “Yes it was.” I affirmed calmly, shoving my hands in my pocket. “Her wolf, it’s unusual the way her coat shimmers… is she?” Cade asks, but he doesn’t have to finish the question. “No, No relation between us, or at least not closely. Which is what I find curious..” I say in reply, staring into the darkness, I watch as veins of light begin to pierce through the sky. As the sun rises, it’s warmth melting the nights frosts, I heard birds singing of a new day and felt it in my heart, hope. “Damn, I was going to say, if you have no dibs..” Cade doesn’t finish as I turn an evil eye in answer, killing the smirk on his lips, he raises his hands in surrender. “Jeeze Broc, You’re bloody taken with this one..” Cades adds hesitantly, whilst also chuckling nervously. “Yes I am, and I don’t intend to stuff it up…” I reply with a heavy heart, as I think of how long it had been since I felt this, love and longing for another. “And the secret?” Cade presses a nervous tone in his voice. “I won’t tell her, unless she asks me again directly.” I reply coolly, I knew if she did, I would crumble for her now, but until then. “Come on lets go have a coffee inside, no sense staring into space.” I finally manage to say breaking the silence, Cade grunts in answer, and we both turn, walking inside. I looked over my shoulder just once, my heart wanting so badly to follow Ivy anywhere she needed to go, but not today, not this morning. That was hard to turn from. Ivy POV I ran long and hard, the first rays of light splitting the sky like cracks in a glass mirror. The blue hues, from black, to navy to shades of light blue, pinks and purples. The sky became blotted out by the tree canopy overhead, the leaves and litter crackled under my paws, dirt flicking up behind me, my pace slowing I loped causally. My heart slowing, I inhaled the scents of pine trees, the needles under foot, turned earth and rain that threatened heavily. I didn’t mind even for only a few minutes, I was at peace; I’d outrun my thoughts, my instincts taking over, helping me enjoy the simple freedom of running. I slowed as I reached a creek, much like the one I’d stood separated by, when I’d first found Conrad, the water ran black from the reflection of the darkness above and for a moment, I paused in the dreamscape again. But the longer I stared, the water lightened, the sun’s light infiltrated the sky the effects reflected in the creeks surface. It was here I sat, staring long after the sun had risen, at the base of a gnarled and twisted tree offering shade for me to cower beneath, as I cried, short and sniffily in my wolfs form.
