Ivy POV I'd woken this morning feeling as though I'd been hit by a bus, everything ached, my head pounded violently and my pillow was wet with tears that fell constantly. I looked around, I was in Broc's room, I rolled over but he wasn't in the bed, instead he was sleeping in armchair beside the bed, a blanket across his knees. He looked exhausted, deep frown lines on his forehead showed he'd been worrying, his arms were crossed tightly against his chest and his chin sat on his chest. I watched him sleep, listening to his even breathing, I felt my own eyelids flutter in response, I was still exhausted. I felt emotionally ruined, my emotions raging from betrayal to abandonment to depression. No, I wouldn't be getting out of bed today, as many times as he'd hurt me and screwed up, I figure the term true-mate had ment together, if not now, eventually, now I wasn't so sure of anything. I closed my eyes, I moved to roll over again, I did so with effort, the pain spiking as I did so. Then I drifted back into a painfilled sleep. Broc POV I watch through my lashes as Ivy studies me, she looks in pain, her eyes leak tears constantly, though they are slowing, deep lines under her eyes show her exhaustion. Her lips are pouted in a saddened frown, her hair is messy and she pulls the quilt tighter around her. I want to comfort her, though I'm not sure if that's my place I fear her rejection or upsetting her. So for now I just watch as her, as she closes her eyes again and her breathing even's into a slow rhythm. "It'll get easier Ivy..." I whisper, before adding. "I hope." Garrett POV Natalie stared as I spoke, mouth open like a codfish. "Your what?!" She shrieks. "I don't want to come back to the the pack anymore." I say more firmly. "Why not?" She asks her eyes wide, "The old man seemed so happy with you a few months ago?" "He was because I was playing his Pawn, but I won't anymore, even if it was making me happy doing it." I say sadly. "Why? What was the job?" She ask her brows furrowed. I slowly raise my gaze to meet her eyes, my throat constricting nervously. "I was supposed to win Ivy's heart, share information with the old man and one day bring her home." I swallow, pausing as Natalie frowns in confusion. "You don't mean "Ivy" As in the Luna to Be, "dead" Ivy?" She asks, using her fingers as quotations. "Yes, that one." I nod, I exhale a heavy weight settling on my shoulders. "I know now that she's a beautiful person and she didn't deserve to be spied on, but I did want the old man's favor...but when I found out that she was his daughter, it felt wrong.." I confide. Natalie stares but says nothing. "She's the old man's biological daughter?" She asks. I nod in response, Natalie goes quiet. "Does he...care for her more then me?" She asks, my heart squeezes. "I don't know, Nat." I smile apologetically, she nods. "So why isn't she dead?" She presses, I sigh. "That's not up for me to discuss, but you can't tell the old man..not yet." I add firmly. Natalie seems to think and then nods, a lot of her behavioral choices disgust me but at least she was loyal when something was important to me. "I promise, I won't tell him, although I don't understand why.." She says after a moment. "Either do I yet, but when I do know, you'll know." I promise, she smiles and nods. That's when we went our separate ways for the time being, bringing me to now, 2 days later. It's almost lunchtime, I dial Ivy's number for the 5th time and still no reply, I was getting worried and frustrated, I was about to dial again when I receive a text. "Hey Garrett, Can I call you in a few days, I'm not myself.. Ivy x" "You ok? I've been calling flat out, are you hurt, is it that Alpha? Sir G, x" "Haha Sir G, It is not him, remember I'm an Alpha now too! I'm just recovering.."  I blink, recovering from the other night, stuff it I decided to pry. "Oh? From the other night? or..." I ask. "I suppose you'll find out soon anyway, Conrad...rejected me." She texts back. I pause for a long moment, the news knocking me off balance, rejected.. you? I think. "Did he say why?" I ask, unsure if I'd over stepped. "No.." Comes the reply. "And Broc?" I ask, biting my cheek nervously. "He is making me lunch at the moment, but is looking after me.." Ivy replies. "Do you need anything?" I press. "No, not for now, like I said I'll talk to you in a few days, stay safe. Sir G x." She replies, my heart squeezes as she signs off with my nickname. "Talk soon Princess.." I whisper to myself, as I shove the phone into my pocket. My coffee arrives then and I blow on the cup to cool it as I wait for my guest to arrive, and that's when I see the old man looking both ways to cross the street. The door opens, his eyes landing on me as he scans the room, a dark knowing smile spreads across his features, could he truly be Ivy's father? "Garrett.." he says in greeting. I nod respectfully. "Alpha Brody." Ivy POV I got off the phone to Garrett, as Broc entered the room, a tray with a glass of juice and a ham and cheese sandwich upon a plate, balanced on one arm and a blanket held under the other arm. He smiled victoriously seeing me awake, though the pain from the severed bond still throbbed in pain, his smile distracted me momentarily, flutters I couldn't name filled my gut. "Here you go." He says proudly as he offer's the tray, I take it placing it on my knees where I sit upright in bed. Broc comes around the side of the bed then, wrapping the blanket around my shoulders and positioning extra pillows behind me for support. Tears spring to my eyes, as I pout with appreciation. "Thank..you Broc." I manage to choke out, my eyes watering further. "No worries, Ivy.." He replies, as he walks around to the otherside of the bed, and takes up residents in the armchair again. Something about him staying close, eases some of the persisting pain and I tuck into my sandwich, with a budding smile.
