A New Will

Though it may seem so unviable, Embreal City is now making its own way to elevate. It has been a week when Mr. Zyrender Everdeen, the current leader, had welcomed the new system with the people. The Long Range Fountain, being dead for some time – now hastening its water up to the top once again; the thing that everyone had yearned for. It was completely working well and everyone was amazed for its rebirth. It was a great day to explore for some and a chance to obtain something for those who’re lurking by. A woman with her tattered blue loosened jeans and the plain grey shirt was currently sitting on the mossy, copious rock. She was having her eminent time examining what’s around her. The lofty, snappish weeds were dancing with the arid wind as the leaves drifted with the dust from the distance. The thin sheet of reality had clobbered just in front of her as she recognized the water coming out from the fountain. A smile was slowly curved on her luscious lips when she witnessed a man in his mid-twenties going up the hillside to her direction. The young man whistled, his hands were buried deep in his cleaned pockets. He smirked when he lifted his head to lock his gaze with hers. “How’s it going?” He asked her. She took off her barnacles and breathed. She glanced at him and said, “Nothing so far. I guessed he’s off the hook now. Did you get what I asked?” The man pulled something out from his pocket and handed it to her. She smiled and thanked him as soon as she took it. She gently opened the wrapper and took a fine bite of it. “You sure did miss that thing.” He commented. She nodded silently as a response. He stepped near to her and settled beside her. He took it and watched a group of children gathering around the gate. Their location was a great spot to watch. The weather is beaming bright. The man wiped off his sweat and took his bottle to drink. The woman finished her food and sat beside him. The two was enjoying the moment, not until she decided to tell him. “It’s good to see it flowing its water once again.” She commented as she watched the fountain from the distance. The boy nodded and said, “Yeah. Talking about it, Mr. Everdeen had surely planned about this. But the question is, since when did he start the project, knowing that no one knows about it. And he just declared about the new system in a bewildering event.” She rubbed her forehead and leaned her body on the tree. “Rubbish as it is to some, but he’s the one taking most of the praises. He sure is a baffling one. Do you think she knows anything about it?” “No, Carmilla wouldn’t dare to step in front of her father’s tail. More like she’s hiding behind it. I guessed the woman doesn’t know anything about it, not until it was heard and seen by the mass.” She stood from her spot and stretched out both her hands up high. Yawning, she told. “Hey. Those two have been roaming lately. Do you think they are doing something behind our backs?” She pouted. He shook his head and held both his knees. “Nah. Probably they just wanted to earn the trust that was taken from them. We should give them some time, since they just started to hang around. Are you jealous?” He smirked at her. She bluffed. “O-Of course not. It’s not I wanted to hang around with them too. I just want to know what they’re doing…And they just went to Mr. Owen without us lately. I wanted to visit the old man and might as well have a stopover at the Informant’s grave.” “I miss them too. We can visit them when things are not that strained. But, curiosity kills a cat.” “That’s why you need to kill it first before it strikes you. It’s just a matter of who can make it to the finish line first sometimes.” He scoffed and stood. Placing his arm on her shoulder, he pinched her right cheek. The woman brushed it and glared at him. “You’re being obvious there. Why don’t we go home and have Miguel eat dinner with us. He’s probably done in delivering those knits in the market. Also, I heard there’s a new store up there that sells good noodles. We should try it tonight.” “Who told you that?” She asked him and took a yawn. She hasn’t been getting enough sleep lately, but she surely is having fun these couple of days. “Carmilla. And oh, she wants to join with us too. Are you okay with that?” She smiled and poked his side. “Of course. I’d love to see her again.” He pulled her and went downhill together. As they were passing the streets, a young boy caught their attention from the distance. He was wearing an overrun, faded shirt and cargo pants. His shoes were thickly covered with sludge. He slowly moved his head and witnessed the two, waving his hand uprightly with his wide smile. The woman flapped hers and paced towards the boy. His slender hands instantly wrapped around her waist, embracing her tight. She soothingly patted his head and giggled. “How’s it going?” “It’s great, Aunt! Are you going for a quest again?” The lad’s eyes gleamed in elation. The woman laughed a bit and chuckled. “No. Not right now, dear. Do you want to come with us for dinner? Your uncle is going to treat us up there.” The boy looked at the man, who’s currently scratching the back of his head. He gave him a thumbs up. “Okay. I’ll just take my sister.” He giggled. “Okay, dear. We can meet here after thirty minutes. We’re just going to pick up your Uncle Miguel then we can go together.” The boy nodded and grabbed his bag. “Okay, Aunt. We’ll see you around here.” Both of them and the young kid separated in different paths.
