As the words escaped Derek's lips, mentioning our son's name, a sudden shift in the room's atmosphere sent shivers down my spine. An eerie unease settled over me, and I couldn't help but desperately hope that Liam was safe and sound, that Derek was simply about to express his excitement regarding our son's impending arrival.
With a trembling voice, I cautiously inquired, "Derek, what's the matter? Is Liam alright?"
In his response, Derek attempted to reassure me, his voice laced with an undertone of concern, "Don't let paranoia take over, Bella. I promise you, nothing will harm Liam."
