14: The Conversation

Thorn’s POV I walked Violet into our room, out of the portal after the battle, still shocked that she now had wings coming out of her back. After sitting her down gently on the bed, I went into the bathroom to get a warm wet rag to clean the blood off her back and hands. Violet was silent, staring off as if she was deep in thought. Tears began to roll down her cheeks as I quickly wiped them away. I kneeled down in front of her, gaining her attention as I continued to wipe her tears away. Her voice broke as she began to speak, "That was scary as hell and hurt, but I feel different. I feel free like Sin lifted a block or shattered a wall that was blocking my wings. It was hard for me to even believe that my father was a fallen angel, but after this, I can believe it now." As she spoke I felt myself falling for her, smiling at her, seeing just how strong she is. My love, you are amazing. I know this is a lot to go through but I am here to go through it with you. Let me finish cleaning you up so you can try and get some rest. She smiled at me and allowed me to finish getting her completely clean. She laid down on the bed on her stomach as her wings covered her completely. I kissed her cheek after telling her I was headed to Shawn's office but I would be back. I went down a few flights of stairs to the main floor, heading to Shawn's office. The door was still gone so he saw me coming and got up, blocking the doorway. “Shawn, relax. I am calm; I would never harm our Luna. I knew she was not trying to harm my beloved”. Shawn agreed and moved out of the way, allowing Thorn to walk into the office where Sin is now curled up in the lounge window. “How is Violet doing? Did I hurt her?” Sin was looking straight at me holding back tears that desperately wanted to fall. “No you did not hurt her, after I got her cleaned up she told me it hurt at first, but right after you told her to awaken she said she felt a shift within her. Violet is sleeping now, and she wanted me to thank you for whatever you did." Sin started breathing again after I told her that Vi was OK. Sin looked at me and said, “To be honest with you, I have no idea what happened. All I remember is the rogue’s head rolling off and looking up at Poe, then red is all I saw." I looked at Sin and started laughing. Sin could not keep the smile off her face looking at me, losing it.“ What is so funny?” “Well, once you turned into the viper, as I call her, you destroyed about 150 rogues on your own instantly. You sliced through them all like butter. At first, I thought I was tripping because it looked like you were wielding two swords the way you used your hands. After seeing what you did, I have some research that I want to look into. Shawn walks behind his desk to sit down and says, " I am interested to hear this. Please continue." Shawn smirks while peeking at Sin. I continue.." Seeing the way she transformed and the way she attacked is what has me thrown off. My eyes snapped at you once you screamed the way you did. Your nails grew into small blades. The aura coming off your body was solid black as if looking into a black hole. I am unsure if anyone else felt it but, there was this massive dark energy spike. Maybe I felt it from being in the underworld so much, but why would that energy come from you?" Sin sat up and leaned against the small wall inside the window. Sin looked towards the open space that was missing a door. Sin closed her eyes and chanted something and suddenly there was a soft purple glow that was faint. You will not notice it unless she points it out. Then, before myself or Shawn could ask what she was doing, a brand new door appeared. Sin smiled and said, " If your wondering, I went ahead and replaced the door, but I also put up a magical sound barrier. Now back to the main topic. From the discussions prior, we know what my father and mother are. But they say I am a Tribid, so that means I am a Lycan, a Gsyps witch, and what else, a demon?" She surprised me by saying this. I know she saw the look on my face. "Well, I was going to say a Dark Fae but you may be on to something with the demon. Some say you looked like a blur as everything happened, but for me, I could see you clearly. Once you finished slicing up the rogues, you beat the s**t out of Mr. King, just to rip out the so-called king’s heart in the end, making him eat his heart out literally”. Sin was shocked at what she heard; I laughed at the look on her face and took a seat, breathing deeply. Shawn leans on his desk rubbing his hands on his face and beard. “We need more information about what is happening to Sin, or at least the right place to start looking. I have already shown the elders to the guest rooms on the first floor. Hopefully, we can continue this conversation in the morning after breakfast”. We all agreed on the agenda for tomorrow, leaving the office and heading up to the alpha floor. They had this whole floor to themselves, at least until they had children. I continued a conversation over mind-link with Shawn as we approached their bedroom door. I stood outside the door as Sin opened the door to her room, walked straight to the shower, stripped out of her clothes, and cut the shower to its hottest temperature, wasting no time as she gets in allowing herself to be enclosed in water. Shawn tried to follow behind her but once the water hit his skin, he jumped back out yelling about how hot it was. Laughing Sin cuts it down and calls out to Shawn to join her. I used my powers to close their bedroom door. Heading back to my room, walking through a portal, I sigh as I look at the bed that is missing her body. Hearing her sigh, I looked to the left, seeing her standing in front of the wall that had a giant mirror attached to it. The mirror is antique with unknown carvings with a language I have yet to figure out. Violet looked stunning standing there fully naked and her giant black wings opened. I know she really wanted to hide them, but I hope she embraces them as a part of her. Violet turned around to face me saying, “at least I know Kesha was right about my parents.” I walked closer to her." Love, there has to be a solution to this, since you are a siren; I do not believe you are going to be able to swim with those out.” We both bust out laughing. Violet began to zone out again. I knew she was thinking hard, “I believe in some way I am the key to this last bounty of yours like you said earlier. Would you be willing to help me figure this all out?” I closed the space between us, engulfing her in a hug. “Love, I will do anything for you, I just need to make Shawn aware of what we are going to do. I am the Beta and you’re the Beta female with so much going on, I am unsure of what our absence would cause.” Violet knew he was right; Thorn pulled her to the bed, helping her get comfortable to lay down together for the night. Sin’s POV I am on the floor looking into a pool of my own blood. I instantly panicked seeing the ugly pink bathroom floor I remembered from the beating I took from him. I knew this memory since this had already happened. He grabs me by my locks and snatches my head back to look at him. “You belong to me and no one else. You are to obey me.” He drags me to the bedroom, throwing me onto the bed as he beats me black and blue. I blacked out a few times before he slapped me, snapping me awake as he thrust into me, causing me to scream and thrash my body to get him off. He begins to choke me as he continues to have his way with me, ignoring my anguish and sobbing. I jolt awake crying after reliving a moment in my life that I wish had never happened. I got up from bed, careful to not wake Shawn, and hurried to the bathroom, shutting the door quietly. I couldn’t stop the tears from falling. I knew I was already having a panic attack. The bathroom door opened, revealing Shawn with pain in his eyes seeing me like that. He did not speak as he started a hot bath for me. After filling the tub and adding some soothing oils and herbs, he began to undress me and wipe my tears away. He picked me up and submerged our bodies in the hot water. “When the time is right and you are ready to tell me whatever it is, I will listen. I hate to see you like this, I wish I could take all the pain away.” Shawn kissed me on my head and held me until I calmed down enough for him to bathe us in time for breakfast. Thorn POV I sat in my normal spot next to Shawn at the head of the table. Of course, Sin is right next to him. Their seats were still empty, which was not usual for Shawn, but with everything going on, I doubt anyone was going to be brave enough to even question him. Just about all the elders have been seated with the leader of the elders sitting in the seat next to Sin. Food had begun to be brought out to the huge table as Shawn and Sin walked into the dining room hand and hand. Staring at Sin, I noticed she looked radiant and happy until I looked closer into her eyes. It was like being sucked into a stormy cloud of emotions. No one else noticed this other than Kesha, myself, Violet, and, of course, Shawn. After breakfast and barely any conversation, we all headed to Shawn’s office with the elders to attempt to get some clear answers. Looking at Shawn, I mind-linked him, “Hey man, I do not think we should bring up Sin possibly being an elder. If anything, the leader can know but not the rest of the elders.” Shawn only looked at me in the eyes for a moment and if I was not paying attention, I would have missed the slight nod of his head. Shawn’s POV I was not looking forward to this meeting, let alone breakfast. Sin did not say a word all morning after her panic attack other than thank you. I could not help but watch her get dressed completely on autopilot. I could tell she was zoned out in her mind trying to close Pandora’s box, so to speak. Sin was dressed in our all-black training gear, so it was easy to see that after this meeting I knew what she would be up to. Breakfast went over smoothly and casual conversation. The omegas cleared off the table and took any other requests from anyone still lingering at the table. Our omegas were treated with love and respect. Without them, the packhouse would not run the way it does. Sin and I were the last to walk into my office. I guided her to my seat as I stood next to her on her right side. Before the room has the chance to fall into an awkward silence, Sin speaks first. “Elder Poe, you asked me if I had taken a life and my answer was no, until the barbaric attack that changed me in some way. I would appreciate it if you could explain why I turned into The Viper, as my beta Thorn calls her.” Sin showed no emotion in her face or her tone, no one made a sound as Poe looked at her. You are not of one species. No part of you is human, the little information that we have on you does not scratch the surface of what you are capable of. I believe when you killed the rogue, it activated your Lycan. You are somehow tapping into your gypsy side on your own, the form you took was your Lycan and your eyes looked that way because you are unmated. That statement caused me to growl; Sin placed her hand over mine that appeared on her shoulder. Poe continued," Please understand. I mean no disrespect in what I tell you. Luna, your father, was the first Lycan and no one ever saw his final transformation. If you did happen to see it, you did not live to tell it. Since you are female, no one knows what you may go through with turning. This will all be new and possibly dangerous. I assume that is why the council feels the way they do. However, I feel there is something more they are withholding about wanting to end your existence. Sin leaned forward onto the desk, no emotion from her was making everyone unhinged. Does this mean I will no longer meet my wolf now that my Lycan is awake, Poe? I am afraid so; however, I would be more inclined to say that you may find that out when you attempt to shift for the first time. Poe cleared his throat, giving the elders in the room a look that apparently meant they needed to leave the remainder of the meeting. Shawn grabbed Poe’s attention by speaking, there are things about my mate that we as a group are trying to figure out. On my 18th birthday, Sin was there when I reviled myself and somehow, she was able to listen in on the elders-linked conversation, which is unheard of. Poe’s eyes enlarged and suddenly you could tell he had zoned out. Before I could speak again, Poe resumed eye contact. Shawn, if that is the case, then that makes Sin an elder by blood. I would have to do some research to see if anything like this has happened before. Hades popped into my head complaining about how many times the word research has come up. I had to keep myself from laughing at him as he banged his head against a wall trapped in my mind. I noticed both betas were sitting on the couch together and Kane and Kesha looked like they had something they wanted to say but held their tongues. Sin took a moment to process what Poe just said. "Poe, if I am an elder by blood, that would mean one of my parents was an elder." Poe stroked his mustache and said, "I would have to assume your mother was an elder because there is no way it was your father." I picked Sin up and sat down on my chair, placing her on my lap as I spoke. "From my understanding, and correct me if I am wrong, but there are only men in the council and the elders are the same way. So Sin's mother being one of them should have been a big deal and not looked over." Poe nodded his head in understanding and said, "That is what makes this situation disturbing Shawn. There are no records of this, nor is there any information on her mother's disappearance." "Wait, Wait!" Kesha said, jumping up out of Kanes' arms, "Sin's mother is a direct descendent of the moon goddess. Since she is the first of her kind, I feel that would make the elders feel threatened, especially if she was able to mind-link with them." Kesha sat down as Thorn cleared his throat. All eyes fell on him. "You made a great point, Kesha. Let's say you're right about that. I believe her heritage and ability are a problem for them, but also that would place her as the leader of the elders, putting a huge target on her back. The feeling I am getting from all this is your mother did not disappear of her own free will. I also have a feeling that your parents were mated. Then there is also the issue of figuring out if you are a Dark Fae or demon like we spoke about last night."
