Wake up, Antonio!

1328 Words
Two days passed in a blink of an eye, Antonio's eyes, it never opened, his legs still as stiff as it was when he was being treated on, he was more like a vegetable and each hour Zoe would check on him to see if he was struggling for survival but it looked like he himself had lost hope, it appeared as if he never wanted to come back, It seemed the moon goddess was not favouring him. FLASHBACK "His chance of survival is low." The healer declared. "But I've been able to stabilize his condition, if the moon goddess wishes, he would return." He continued. "I'm a witch, I should be able to do something." Rachael uttered. "You can't, only a true care from his mate can wake him up." The healer replied. " Well I'm his mate." Rachael said and chuckled with a tone of victory while glancing at Zoe. Her face twisted in determination. She felt all the eyes on her and she looked down the ground. Once again, she felt inferior like she had always felt in her pack, the feeling of being an outcast dawned on her again and everything happening was beyond her control or probably what she wasn't powerful enough to stop. " His mate... By that I meant his destined mate and not his chosen mate, he gave you a temporary mark not a permanent one." The healer's voice sprung up again with no hint of fear and every word cut deep into Rachael's flesh. Zoe smirked . " Try all you can to bring the Alpha back not exchanging words with less important personnels." Ethan interfered urging for more effort, his eyes flashed towards Rachael, his tone full of disdain. PRESENT TIME Zoe cracked eggs into a bowl, whisking them with a fork as she gazed out the window, she was making scrambled eggs which she thought she could pair with some bread. She looked forward to Antonio's consciousness . "Ma'am what're you doing?" A lady in a uniform quite different from the usual approached her and questioned, she resembled the head chef, The uniform was made of white and blue and the head gear was all blue, she had a blonde hair and her face emitted simplicity. "It's nothing, I'm done just want to set the table." Zoe replied her and gave a soft smile. "May I help with that?" The lady asked, It wasn't a request, it felt informing. She helped in carrying the scrambled eggs that had already been set on two plates and she headed to the dining room, Zoe followed behind. This had been the routine for two days now, Zoe would make a breakfast for two hoping Antonio would wake up and eat and today was the third day and yet he hadn't woken up. While the head chef set the table, Zoe added a vase with fresh flowers, trying to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that the entire villa was lacking. Just as she was about to sit down, she heard a faint rustling sound. Her heart skipped a beat as Antonio slowly emerged from his room, his eyes still sunken, but a hint of awareness in his gaze. Zoe's eyes welled up with tears as she rushed to his side, supporting him as he made his way to the dining table. "Antonio, you're awake!" she exclaimed, trying to contain her excitement, maybe she could finally have her freedom. Antonio nodded weakly, his eyes scanning the table. "Breakfast," he whispered, a faint smile on his lips, it was rare. Zoe beamed, helping him into his seat. They ate in comfortable silence, Zoe feeding him small bites, Antonio savoring each bite. Just as they were finishing up, Rachael burst into the dining room, her eyes flashing with anger. "What's going on here?" she demanded, her gaze fixed on Zoe. Zoe stood up, her heart racing. "Antonio woke up. I was just helping him with breakfast." Rachael's expression turned icy. "I'll take care of him from now on. You're no longer needed." Zoe's eyes widened as Rachael entered carrying a luggage box. "Rachael stop." Antonio cautioned. "Lurking around with some random girls and you expect me to stop ranting, I'm your mate." Rachael declared. "I'm still your Alpha." Antonio asserted and Zoe stood up to excuse herself but was stopped in time by his voice. "And where to?" Antonio questioned, Zoe sat down on the chair again with full force while Rachael stormed her feet on the ground in anger as she departed. " Greetings Alpha." Ethan extended his warm greetings, the news of the Alpha's consciousness must have reached his ears. "I'm fine Ethan." Antonio said under his breath. "I got her as you ordered, best for the job." Ethan confused and there sat Zoe with different thoughts in her head. Who exactly did they get? Her father? No it was a she, definitely someone from her pack, She concluded. "Rosaria!" Ethan called out and a short timid lady came into their view. "Where was she before?" Different thoughts rummaging through Zoe's mind but she dare not ask any, Who was she anyways?, A toy, An outsider and the daughter of their greatest enemy, she was definitely in hell enjoying the sound of the lighting of matches. "She'll be your personal maid." Antonio declared and stood up to exit the living room, Ethan also did the same. " Can I have a moment with you?" Zoe requested. "Meet me in the study room." Antonio replied without looking back. " The study room?? Where?" Zoe murmured. "Just follow behind." Ethan said and they both walked towards the study room, Rosaria was left behind, it was on the second floor and the interior was another evidence of wealth even her father never had. It's been a little over 20 minutes and Antonio was still nowhere to be found, Ethan already left and Zoe was left alone to ponder in silence and embrace the quietness and peaceful vibe that the study room gave. She walked around, the study room was wide, it had a lot of books but only one caught her eyes, it was titled " Why I can never love". She reached for it, and as she opened it, she discovered it was handwritten, probably his diary. "What are you doing with that?" He questioned his eyes boring into her. The tension and coldness his voice carried made her drop the book . Fear?. When did she start fearing him, it was just too sudden, less than a week with him and her life was already a mess. While the book fell, A picture slipped from it, it was a picture of a girl and a boy in the garden, the boy felt like a younger version of Antonio and the girl felt familiar. She reached to pick it up and hand it over back to Antonio. " Don't touch my things, know your position." Antonio said as he sat down on the couch near and beckoned her to sit. " What do you have to say?" Antonio asked with no hint of gladness. "I...I.." Zoe stuttered. " If you don't have anything to say, use the door." Antonio said with a tone of finality. " Can I get my freedom?" Zoe requested. " Freedom" Antonio repeated with a sinister laughter. " I know my place, I'm stuck with you and there's no way out, I just want to work." Zoe continued ignoring his facial expression. "You don't, If you do, you'll know what to request for and what not to request for...." Antonio replied and paused. " Am I too gentle with you?" Antonio continued, he unbuttoned his shirt one by one and removed his belt, he started moving closer to her, he held her waist and she tried to escape his clutches but once again she couldn't. " It's time to fulfill your duty, bitch." Antonio whispered seductively into her ears.
