Cleansing
As Aaron approached, Alex went to get up only to have the healer wave him down.
“Relax, Your Highness. This will be easier for you if you do.” Aaron waited until he rested back against the couch again and then walked around behind him.
Alex felt Aaron’s hands on his temples.
Relax, Alex, this won’t take me long to check now that I know what I’m looking for.
Alex felt himself going hot then cold as his emotions swung from fear to anger, then back to fear again, but he complied with the healer’s orders as best he could. Alex knew the moment the old healer stiffened in response to something he’d found and felt himself tense with a thrill of fear in response.
Ah, Alex, this is going to hurt, I’m sorry I didn’t notice this sooner.
