After his display of power Alex collapsed, slumping to the floor. Kyle scrambled over to check on him, relieved to discover that while he was unconscious, he was still alive. With the assistance of the staff, Kyle helped transfer Alex to his bed, moving aside so Aaron could check on his patient one more time.
Isabella maintained her shield around Alex’s mind, preventing interference from outside influences, although she doubted after such a display their enemies would try that particular trick again.
She watched carefully as the healer reinforced Alex’s exhausted slumber with a compulsion to keep him in that deep sleep he needed, for at this point Isabella had to concede it would be a kindness. It would take time, even for Alex, to heal, and sleep was the best remedy. Isa
