64 Barrier Alex took a deep breath as he strode through the veil, Jess on one side, Kyle on the other, as they had for so many years of their lives. A path formed before them as they walked—not that he found it necessary to feign walking anymore, or for a path to appear, but the old familiar method felt soothing. The blank mist of the veil remained shapeless around them rather than taking form as they wished it. Unlike in the past, that was taking conscious effort.
