Alex stroked Isabella’s hair gently as she slipped into exhausted sleep. He waited, reinforcing her normal sleep with a compulsion of his own, a reassurance that she was safe and should sleep. Finally certain that she would rest, at least for the time being, he eased himself off the bed, pulling the blankets up tenderly before kissing her gently on the forehead and slipping out of his rooms. He entered the lounge, and seeing the concern written on the face of his friends and Damien, he smiled sadly. “She’s asleep for now.” Alex nodded at William, who’d shown up as well.
