CHAPTER SEVEN The hotel room was dark when Val came out of the bathroom, the light behind her spilling out into the unexpected -gloominess, casting a dim, irregular patch across the floor. As soon as she became aware of the darkness, her stomach gripped tensely, and her mouth grew very dry. Somehow, instead of it helping, as she thought it might, she found the darkness disconcerting and sinister. It made her pause as her eyes strained to see. "Shut the light," Alyscia Sorrell said, her voice soft and sensual as it rose up out of the dusky shadows. "But I can't see." Alyscia laughed gently. "That's all right, Val. This is one thing we don't need bright lights for to enjoy. Besides, I have a surprise for you." Val's breathing was shallow and rapid. "A surprise?" Alyscia laughed again.
