Episode 6: Unspoken Names

227 Words
At breakfast, the dining hall buzzed with the usual morning noise-scraping chairs, clinking cutlery, whispered gossip. Faye sat alone, eyes on her tray, ears tuned to everything else. "Did you see Griffin yesterday? Total mess lately." "I heard Ms. Vexley gave him detention again." Faye's ears perked up at the name. Ms. Vexley-Fayth had mentioned her once. Cold. Controlling. Always watching. She scanned the room. Juniper sat at a corner table with two other girls, all of them whispering behind cupped hands. Faye forced herself to smile and waved them over. Juniper looked surprised but came. "We were talking about Griffin," Juniper offered as she slid into the seat. "He's been weird since..." Faye raised an eyebrow. "Since what?" Juniper hesitated. "Since before you left. I mean, before Fayth left. You two used to be close, right?" Faye nodded carefully. "Kind of." Juniper leaned in. "He was always staring at the chapel. Like he knew something was going on in there." Faye kept her expression neutral, but her mind jumped. The chapel. Another place Fayth had marked in her notes. Locked after dark. Off-limits. She changed the subject, but her thoughts stayed fixed on that single idea: Whatever secrets Fayth left behind, they weren't buried with her. They were still here, stitched into the stone walls of Wyndgrave. Waiting to be found. --- [End of Episode 6]
