At midnight, the greenhouse was bathed in moonlight and silence. Faye waited near the stone bench, heart racing.
Griffin arrived wearing his hoodie pulled low over his eyes.
"You shouldn't be doing this," he muttered, handing her a folded envelope. "These are copies. Fayth gave them to me the night before she... disappeared."
Faye unfolded the pages. Slanted handwriting. Fayth's voice whispered through every word.
> "I saw them again tonight. Five of them. They meet under the chapel. I heard my name. I think they know I know."
> "If I vanish, it's because of them. Don't let them erase me."
She looked up at Griffin, stunned.
"You believe she was murdered."
He nodded.
"But why not go to the police?"
Griffin laughed bitterly. "They're in on it. Or too scared to act. The people involved-they're not students. They're teachers. Staff. People with power."
Faye folded the papers carefully. "Then we go around them. We expose them."
Griffin shook his head. "You don't know what you're getting into."
He stared at her trying to find a way to stop her.
Faye met his eyes. "Then tell me."
He hesitated.
Then whispered, "They call it the Sixth Bell Society."
