The champagne has gone straight through me, and the need to find the restroom is becoming urgent. I approach Arlo, who’s in deep conversation with Ace and Lazarus, their faces animated as they discuss something I’m sure is far above my understanding. I try to keep things light. "Arlo, I need to go to the restroom. This champagne is running through me like water." He glances at me, concern flashing briefly in his eyes, a look I’ve come to recognize all too well.
