“This is something that never should’ve been,” I said. Dr. Crenshaw smirked and Semjaza broke in. “She’s been exposed to a lot today. I think it’s time we go,” he said. Dr. Crenshaw’s eyes didn’t move from me. “She cannot be trusted; it’s only a matter of time,” Crenshaw said to Semjaza. He nodded. The words conjured an unsettling feeling that struck my gut, but I pretended not to hear.
