Wait, what!” I asked, chuckling.
“Kade’s brother?” I exclaimed.
“Yes, Azren. His brother,” she repeated, confirming that I had really heard her right.
“But the Alpha is dead!” I said.
“Now he is,” she replied.
“I remember that night like I’ll never forget. He was drunk, and I was nothing but a lowly maid to him, trying to make ends meet while hiding my identity from him,” she spoke, a tone of sadness hinting in her voice.
“He met me in the kitchen and didn’t waste time having his way with me, while his Betas cheered him on like it was some kind of victory. I lost my purity—and my humanity—that day,” she continued.
“And when he found out I was pregnant, he locked me away. For nine months, I wasn’t allowed to see the sun. I held onto my baby as encouragement every day,” she went on.
“And when it was time for labor, he cut open my stomach and took his pup. Without cleaning me or allowing me to heal, he threw me into the bushes and banished me, to keep anyone from discovering his secrets,” she said, a tiny tear falling from her cheek.
“I’ve waited twenty-five years to have my revenge on everyone, and no one—not even you—can stop me!” she yelled, attacking me with a sword I hadn’t even seen her draw.
She pressed it to my throat, nearly letting it taste my blood. She smiled sheepishly, and I could feel her every breath—but I wasn’t done with her.
“What did you need Kade’s wolf for? And why did you want it in the first place?” I asked.
“Oh, you gave it to me. It was very easy,” she spoke. My mind went through events, but I couldn't recall giving her Kade's wolf. I didn't even know how to separate them.
“Don't think too much, child. The potion!” she spoke.
That was her plan all along—to make me think Kade was changing so I could fall for her trap. That's why, even after using the potion, nothing seemed to really change at all.
“Bast*rd!” I spoke out of frustration, but her knife dug deeper. It seems like a fruit doesn’t really fall far from the tree, as she and Kade were both ruthless.
“I don't have any beef with you since you just want to walk out alive. But if you cross my path again like today, I won't hesitate to kill you,” she spoke. But then I chuckled.
“I was naive, yes. But so were you. You gave me a cheat code on how to survive you,” I spoke, but my words seemed to make her angrier as her breath could burn my skin.
“Now you listen to me. If anything we discussed here reaches Kade, I'll make sure I show you why they fear me!” she threatened.
“And yes, the cursed version of you—that was also me!” she spoke. I had heard enough of this. I tried slipping away from her grasp, but my fighting skills were too low for that, and I only got the blade deeper than it was, cutting my throat.
She giggled and left me to fall to the ground.
“What did you need his wolf for?” I asked, holding my neck, which had started regenerating back.
“You'll soon see. Why should I spoil the fun by telling you?” she asked and walked out.
I couldn't stand up nor sit. The information was too much for my little, slow head to process. Son? Mother? Defiling? How much did I miss?
This could only mean that Linda was the curse, and nothing could stop her. She was the dark side of me—that's why I couldn't hear her voice when I was going to a sacred place.
I gathered my strength as my wolf yearned for Kade. I could feel it—lonely and deserted.
“Worry not, child. She might have cursed, but love outbeats any curse,” a voice spoke, but I closed my ears, as I had heard enough voices before—one could corrupt me again.
I limped back to the castle, where there was mayhem. Everyone ran around, so I stood outside the door, watching everyone, more so Tasha, who didn't seem to care what was happening as she shaped her nails.
“Thank goodness, Luna! The Alpha has been looking for you!” Damian spoke, approaching me.
I entered the room, only to find everything scattered. He acted more like a mad person. Nothing could calm him down, like a rage bait had been placed on him. But as soon as he sensed my presence, he calmed down.
“Just knock at the door or call me if you can't control him,” Damian spoke. I nodded my head as I closed the door.
He turned to look at me, but I pricked my already tired legs on one of the shattered glass pieces he had thrown down.
“Thank you!” he let out.
I couldn't tell what the "thank you" was for. Was it for rescuing his wolf or saving him from harming himself? I didn't get a chance to ask as he leaned forward for a hug.
His hands were tight. I could feel his passion in the hug and could sense how much he wanted me. I wanted the same thing, but why did he restrict himself? I could tell that a part of him was dead.
None of us could resist the pull we felt. He chose me, but we were fated. He kissed my shoulders, my scent choking him. I was on heat, and I could tell he was ready to mate.
“I don’t want to hurt you,” he whispered.
“I’m already in the mess, forced or not, and we will do this together,” I said. This captured his attention as his hands touched my sensitive part.
“Do you want me?” I whispered.
“Since the first day that I saw you, I’ve only been dreaming of this moment,” he responded calmly.
“I’m a virgin,” I spoke, but this didn’t stop his mouth from kissing my ears and shoulders.
“We’ll go slow,” he spoke again.
