I limped back to the house, my heel in pain with every movement I made. My focus was only on Tasha, blinding my eyes from every other wolf I came across—especially Kade. I struggled up the stairs directly to Tasha's room. I'd never been in her room before, but it looked better than mine, covered with all gold and diamond. Since she wasn't around, I took the luxury of looking around. Her bed was pure gold, the painting black but with a silver artifact on the edge of each wall. If I didn't know better, I would have mistaken the room for a museum, even if the space of her room was far greater than mine. "Looking for something?" she spoke behind me, her aura always dark, but I had something to match up. I turned and, without hesitation, started walking towards her. "Using the famous line, I see, but vocabulary is not on your side this time. I am, in fact, looking for something," I spoke, looking her straight in the eyes so she could know how serious I was. "I see. And what might that be?" she asked, reaching for the only chair in the room. "Where is his wolf?" I asked, and she remained shocked. "I, in fact, don't know what you're talking about!" she spoke with an assuring smile, but I had made out the puzzle myself. "An Alpha isn't an Alpha without his wolf, and you know very well that without his wolf, he cannot see you for who you truly are," I said, going to lean in front. "If that's what you're here for, you might as well start to walk out because I don't know what you're talking about," she hesitated. My eyes scanned through the room as another scent hit my nose. The mirror in the room directly showed Tasha not in her human form, but the real one. I turned back to the seat to see a young, vibrant woman speaking—but in the mirror, an old, ragged, bitter woman. "I'll take over!" she spoke again, and I let her. "Listen here, you old witch, where is the wolf?" I yelled. She stood up and rushed through the door, revealing Kade standing outside. She set me up! She didn't even allow me to tell her the deal, or maybe I took too long. Kade stood there looking embarrassed at me. There was no way to defend myself, or else he might assume I'm just bitter. She rushed to Kade to cuddle him. "Thank the Moon Goddess you're here. Her jealousy is getting out of hand! Do something, Kade," Tasha cried, faking her tears. "Do something?" I repeated. "What do you mean? You're not even Tasha," I spoke abruptly. "What did I tell you?" she yelled in my head. "What are you talking about?" Kade asked, his arms still wrapped around Tasha. I felt like beating all of them, allowing my jealousy to manifest, but the pain in my heart couldn't allow me. "Are you blind? Can't you see that that's not Tasha?" I asked again. I was done explaining. This time, I'd demonstrate. I went and forcefully removed Tasha from Kade, dragging her in front of the mirror. My nails pricked her hands, but no blood came out. Furthermore, I went and placed Tasha in front of the mirror to reveal her, but Kade didn't move an inch. Instead, he leaned on the door, looking at me in anger and embarrassment. Tasha, on the other side, stared at the mirror and covered her face. I could smell fear in her, but her crocodile tears were just too much and covered up for her. "What did I do to you, Azren?" Tasha cried out. Just when I needed her, she kept quiet and left me alone. She was my avatar, but my real self came out like I was alone. "It is because Kade loves me—that's why you're jealous. Yes, we slept together, but that's because he feels nothing for you," she cried out, and I wasn't having it. "Come with me!" Kade commanded. I stared down at the ground, my shame being too much to allow anyone to see me. I moved slowly to where Kade was standing. "Let me see the tattoos," he spoke. I lifted my thighs, and he just smiled, as if giving me approval. For him, the tattoos were more important than my life or my heart. "Now listen up. You're going back to the room and do not come out until I tell you so. Did you understand?" he leaned forward and spoke. He didn't shout, but his voice was enough to bring fear and pain to me. I limped back to the room, my head bowed down in defeat, my heart in pain, feeling betrayal. Not only that, but he said they never did anything, and Tasha confirmed in front of him, and he didn't deny her words. That was the sudden pain I would feel. I locked myself in the room—not allowing anyone in—and went straight to the bathroom. The shower fell down as the memory of my first shower lingered in my mind. Tears fell by themselves, even without a sound. It was too much. I cried to the point my lungs ached. Depressed and sad, I went to the bed that I've slept in alone since knowing him. "Next time you don't rush. You listen to me," she finally spoke, but I would rather not speak to anyone. I'm in a battle alone while Kade enjoys his life with his mistress. "I want to tell you a story," she whispered again, but my silence wasn't broken. "Me and my mate once came to raid a village—not to harm anyone but just for hunting. That night changed us as we raided a home of a woman who had just given birth," she spoke, but I didn't understand the essence of her story. "I didn't feel sorry for her, as it was a normal raiding. Her and the baby were fine, so she’d end up finding something else to eat. I didn't know she was a witch," she spoke, and that caught my attention. "She cursed a spell, binding my mate to her son that she seemed to hate, and my spirit to wander around until he mated. I didn't think this was possible. She also cursed her child’s mate to die for what the dad did to her," she spoke again, and this definitely caught my attention. "I'm the answer to all your questions," the voice of Linda rang in my head. I couldn't believe I was searching for answers when she was right there. But I couldn't assume she was the mother, since it's said the mother died at birth, and it was wild. But Linda is a witch. "So you see, I'm not only fighting for the curse to end because of you, but also for me," she spoke. "I'm not fighting anymore. The death spirit can go and have him," I spoke out of spite. "If he dies, my mate also dies—and I haven't given up on my mate. Not yet," she whispered. "We have to break this, and I can help you hear his dark thoughts since that's my mate speaking," she spoke. I gasped at all I just heard and lay there, hoping for something to give me hope.
