Four Months Ago…
My fingers trembled beneath the table.
How the hell did he know what I was doing?
My eyes remained locked on Kallias. The softness in his gaze never wavered, though the amusement there continued to grow.
He adjusted in his chair and leaned closer.
“Zariah,” he said carefully, as if trying not to startle me. “You don’t have to protect yourself from me.”
“How did you know?!”
The words flew out before I could stop them. My heart raced. My eyes widened. Panic surged through me as I stared at him. His lips curled into a slow smile.
“I can sense your aura,” he said calmly. “I’ve been able to for a while now. Even before I found you.”
My brows knitted together.
“What? How is that possible?”
“I’m not entirely sure.” He shrugged lightly.
