Pants Down

Gabriel's POV The knock stopped. I stood there, frozen, my hands pressed against the wood of the door like I was trying to push the sound away. The house felt huge and empty all of a sudden. I heard footsteps walking closer, slow deliberate. They were familiar footsteps, exactly Derek's pace. "Dad? What are you doing at the front of my room?" I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding. My knees felt like jelly. I just needed to get out. I needed to go downstairs, find a corner, and just... exist without having a panic attack. They should just leave the hallway pleaseeee. "Oh," Mr. Miller’s voice sounded weirdly tight. "I thought you were in there. Let me go downstairs now." Footsteps faded. I waited a second, then two, then five. My heart was still hammering, like a bird hitting a window. I straightened my tie in the reflection of the glass. My hair was a mess. My face looked pale, like I was about to faint. I forced a smile fake, ugly, whatever and unlocked the door. I swung it open and almost walked right into him. Derek was standing right there, leaning against the doorframe, watching me. He didn’t look mad, which was somehow worse. He looked like he had been waiting for me to walk into a trap. "Well," he said, not moving. "You locked me out of my own room." My mouth felt dry. "It’s... it’s not really like that. I just....." He didn't wait for me to finish. He just walked past me, right into the room, like I was furniture he didn't need to move. He turned and locked the door behind him. The sound of that latch was the loudest thing I had ever heard. "Can we go downstairs?" I asked, my voice cracking. "The party......." "What were you doing in my room, Gabe?" He cut me off. His eyes weren't looking at me, they were scanning me. Like he was stripping me down with just his gaze. "Nothing," I lied. It sounded pathetic even to my own ears. "I wasn't doing anything. I just... I lost my way. This mansion is so big, I haven't seen the end of it." I laughed, but it was just a breathy, nervous sound. I felt like such an i***t. He didn't buy it. He never bought anything. He took a step forward. Then another. He wasn't walking like a normal person, he was stalking. I backed up until my heels hit the wall. The space behind me was cold, and the space in front of me was Derek. He pinned me there with one hand on the wall next to my head. He was so close I could feel the heat radiating off him. Champagne, expensive soap, and something darker. Something like smoke. "Derek," I whispered. My throat felt like it was closing up. "Isn't this too close?" He smirked. "Not at all. Why? Do you feel uncomfortable?" "You know you can say what you want to me," I snapped, trying to find some shred of dignity. "Without standing so close to me like you are trying to kiss me." His eyes changed. They went flat, dark, like he was deciding what to do with me. Then, that wicked, slow grin spread across his face. "Well," he murmured. "Good idea." And then he didn't give me a chance to breathe. He leaned in and crushed his lips against mine. It wasn't a nice kiss. It was aggressive, messy, hungry. I tried to pull back my hands were pushing against his chest, trying to put distance between us, but his other hand shot up and grabbed the back of my neck. His grip was firm, unyielding, pulling me into him. He was devouring me. There was no rhythm, no softness. It was just a fight. I felt his teeth scrape against my lip, and a jolt of something sharp and electric shot straight down my spine. I hated him. I hated how good his mouth felt. I hated how his cologne filled my nose until I couldn't think straight. I wanted to hit him. I wanted to stay like that forever. My brain was a mess of contradictions. He pulled back, just an inch, his eyes hooded. I stumbled away from the wall, breathless, my hand coming up to touch my lips. They felt swollen, raw. "We are stepbrothers now, dammit!" I barked. My voice sounded shaky. I felt like I was losing my mind. He smiled. A real smile this time. Cold and sharp. "And that’s what makes it even better." "You are sick." "I know." I turned, my hand fumbling for the door handle. I had to get out. I had to breathe fresh air. But before my fingers even touched the metal, I felt him behind me. He was fast. Too fast. He didn't grab me, he just loomed over my back, his chest pressing against my spine, his chin resting on my shoulder. His breath was hot against my ear, making me shiver. "Tonight should be our honeymoon too, brother," he whispered. His voice was a low vibration that I felt all the way into my chest. "What do you think?" "Let me go," I begged. My voice sounded small and fragile. He didn't move. He leaned closer, his voice dropping into a dangerous, dark promise. "No. Now... pants down. You make me so horny, Gabe. And you aren't going anywhere." My heart stopped. My hands were shaking so hard I couldn't even grip the door handle. I was trapped. I was caught between the secret of what I saw in the hallway and the monster standing behind me, and for the first time, I realized I had no idea how I was going to make it of this madness with a sane mind. "Pants...down, Gabe."
