Please let me go

1046 Words
Gabriel's POV My blood was pounding so hard I could hear it in my ears. Thump. Thump. Thump. My hands were shaking, but not from fear. It was pure, unfiltered rage. My room gutted. My stuff gone. It wasn't a robbery. Thieves don't leave a room looking like it was professionally scrubbed clean. This was Derek's handwork. I didn't think about the consequences or the fact that I had zero backup. I just moved. I stomped out of the dorm, ignoring everyone, ignoring the burning in my chest. I took a cab straight to Derek’s apartment. I would definitely deal with him today. I don't know why, but the guards at the gate just looked at me and nodded. They didn't stop me. Didn't ask for a pass or whatever. They let me right in. Like I was one of them. Anyway Derek was my stepbrother now so of course, I was one of them. But that only made me madder. I pushed through the front door, not even bothering to knock, and stormed inside. The place was huge, expensive, and quiet and the last time I was here, Derek was smashing my useless ex boyfriend. Derek was slumped on the couch. Shirtless. Wearing these grey jogger pants that looked way too comfortable. He was just sitting there, looking at his phone, acting like he had done know wrong in his entire life. "Oh my brother, you miss me?" The sound of his voice was like gasoline on a fire. I didn't even process what he said. I just lunged. I put every ounce of weight I had into a punch, aiming for his face, for his chest, for anything. I wanted to see him bleed. I wanted to see that smug look wiped off his face. But I was slow. Before my fist even got close, his hand shot out. He caught my wrist like it was nothing. He didn't even look stressed. He yanked, pulled, and suddenly the world flipped. I hit the couch hard, the cushions digging into my ribs, and before I could recover, he was on top of me. He pinned me down. His body was heavy, solid, and he had me held in a way where I couldn't move an inch. The air was getting thin. "Let me go!" I shouted, thrashing under him. My legs kicked out, but he just shoved his knee between my thighs, locking me in place. He was breathing right in my face. He smelled like expensive soap and something cold. He looked down at me, and that damn smile was back. "Damn I love your love language, physical attack." "What the f**k," I barked. I tried to break free, twisting my arms, trying to bite, trying to shove him off, but he was just too strong. It was humiliating. He wasn't even fighting me he was just holding me, like you hold a kid who’s throwing a tantrum. The tension was suffocating. Every time I moved, he shifted, keeping me pressed against the couch. It was violent, but there was this weird, sick weight to it. He was enjoying this. He was loving the fact that I was trapped under him, helpless. I struggled until I couldn't anymore. My lungs were burning, and the panic of being held down like that started to outweigh the anger. I was losing breath. "please Derek let me go." He held it for a second longer, like he was savoring the fact that I had to ask, then he just… let go. He rolled off me and sat back, looking bored. "So what do you want?" I scrambled backward, putting distance between us. I was panting, my hair probably a mess, my heart racing like a trapped animal. I looked at him, trying to read his face, but he was a blank slate. "Where are my clothes?" I demanded. He blinked, acting confused. "You mean your suitcase? They are in my room." "No, I am sure you sent someone to my room and raided all my stuff." He tilted his head, leaning back on the couch like he was listening to a crazy person. "What? Why would I do such a thing?" "Stop lying." I wanted to hit him again. I wanted to scream. I stood up, but my knees were weak. He stood up too. He didn't even have to walk fast, he just closed the space between us in two strides. He snatched me by the waist, pulling me right against his body. I pushed my hands against his chest, trying to keep space, but his skin was warm, firm, and he wasn't budging. "Gabe, why would I lie to you now?" "My room is empty all my stuff are gone. You mean you didn't take them?" He looked genuinely shocked. I watched his face closely, looking for a twitch, a smirk, something. But he just looked concerned. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and tapped the screen. "What? You mean your belongings were stolen on campus?" He started dialing. He didn't even wait for me to answer. He put the phone to his ear and barked at the person on the other end. "How the hell was my brother's room robbed in a school with security." I stood there, paralyzed. Was he lying? He had to be. He had to be. But the way he was talking… he sounded pissed. He sounded like a guy who had his property stolen. I couldn't hear the other side, but Derek just kept going. "Well do your investigations and I want my brother's things back or else all of you will lose your job." He hung up. Then he immediately called someone else. "Dad Gabriel things were stolen in school, its really not safe. He would be staying with me till they clear things up." My stomach dropped. "What?" He cut the call and looked at me, rolling his eyes like I was the annoying one. "What do you mean by what? Do you want to go back to your room, what if an armed robber is still inside it." I stared at him. I couldn't breathe. He had done it again. He had turned everything to benefit his ego. I can't stay with Derek. Never.
