It was clearly out of line, and she could not stop replaying them in her mind. “I was up all night thinking of you.” She whispered it before she realized how deep it sounded, how vulnerable it made her. To her, it had been a mix of truth and impulse. She had thought of him that night, of the way he shielded her, of the intensity in his eyes that unsettled her.
