| CLEO | In the midst of my deep slumber, I hear my alarm clock playing. I groan. I don’t want to get up. It’s Friday and I have nothing to do. Oh no, wait. Ugh, I have an appointment today to check out my new client’s place...and a date with the boy from apartment 2G. Sighing, I cuddle deeper into my pillows. I stay in bed for a couple of more second listening to my alarm, try to doze off again when suddenly the door to my room was slammed open and someone jumps on me. " Get off!” I whine before groaning painfully. No answer comes from the culprit onto of me but then I hear giggling from my doorway. I peek my head out and whined. “Steph help me! Get her off!” They do nothing but laugh at my reaction. “Rise and shine love, it’s time for you to get up,” Jen said as she got off me and fixed herself up. I groaned and came out from under the covers and sat on my bed rubbing my eyes then glaring at my two best friends. I stare through my narrowed eyed the two females. Jen’s wearing black skinny jeans with knee-high cream boots, a white V-neck shirt and a jean jacket with a cream-colored scarf with her hair loose, while Steph has on red skinny jeans black flats with a V-neck and a black cardigan a red beanie and her sideways fish braid with her glasses on. Sigh, why do they always look like awesome super hero’s just ready and waiting to save my day? “Morning,” I say. “Morning Love,” Jen says smiling. “Morning sleepy head.” Steph giggles which make me smile. Jennifer Delgado, aka Jen or JenJen for short, the crazy, hyperactive, panda loving girl with a crazy passion for food. She has long wavy black hair that reaches down her waist and blue eyes. We’ve been friends since middle school. She’s a Freelance Graphic Designer who works for the same company I do. She’s like a mom, I swear she cooks, cleans and bosses me and Steph around even though she’s the youngest out of all three of us. She’s really kind-hearted but tells you things frank and she loves to sing and play around. She’s like an overgrown teddy bear...well in my case Panda bear, but I love her. One thing that gets annoying is that she was born with Disney in her veins. Can’t live with her can’t live without her, literally speaking. Jennifer and Stephanie live together in a studio a couple of blocks from here. Stephanie Tavarez, aka Steph or Stephy, the quiet, hyper-animated, dog loving girl with a fetish for video games. She has long brown hair that reaches just below her elbows. She had light green eyes and wear glasses although Jen and I sometimes force her to use her contacts. I’ve known her since Middle school although she and Jen meet in elementary. We’ve been best friends ever since. She’s a journalist working in the same company as Jen and I, and she also writes books. I love her writing. Her being the oldest out of us three even though we’re all 22 she’s more laid back. I love her though. She helps me when Jen gets to over baring or overprotective or just crazy and she’s the one who gives me some Ice-cream when I’m sick even though Jen says soup is better. Or when I’m having relationship problems...which in my case is always. I love them both there my everything, and they’re both Hispanic! Which is so not fair because they both have those awesome accents and gorgeous bodies and here I am with normal curly dirty blonde hair and hazel brown eyes. My names Cleo Grace and I am a hopeless Romanic. When I say hopeless, I mean hopeless as in I love the whole lovey-dovey, lingering kisses, holding hands, sappy speeches, leaving notes, cute surprises, random dates and cuddle moments, but I can’t make it work for myself. On another note, I am an Interior Designer so I have pretty good style. Steph drags me to the bathroom and I shower, brush my teeth and do my hair as Jen picks out my clothes for me and fixes my bed as she’d done before. I sigh in relief. What would I do without these girls? “Nothing!” Jen said out of nowhere. I look at her and raise an eyebrow “And how did you know what I was saying?” She laughs. “Because I know that sigh of yours L-E-O” I groan and roll my eye’s at her. “Don’t call me Leo its Cleo!” I hold my tongue out at her and throw a pillow her way as she ran out of my room. I shake my head at her and get dressed. I wore a black pencil skirt with black pumps and a red dress shirt with ¾ sleeves and my hair in a neat bun. Some lips gloss and mascara and I was done. I love dressing up professionally and my job lets me do just that. I unplug my phone and grab my purse placing my phone, iPod, wallet, key’s, flats and anything else I need in it. I grabbed my paperwork and client address and papers. I made sure I had my sketchbook and sharpened pencils and walked off into my living. Once I walk into my living room I see Stephanie on the couch reading and Jen on her phone while Noah and Drew eating away at my cereal. “Well thank you for eating all my cereal my uninvited guests,” I say placing my purse and paperwork on the counter. They both gave me a cheeky smile and waved. “Good morning Cleo.” they sang in unison. I just rolled my eyes at them and smiled getting a bowl of cereal for myself. I see Jen putting her phone in her back pocket and walk over to Drew wrap her arms around his neck placing her head on his shoulder. “I told them not to but they just wanted to bug you,” She said giggling as Drew nibbled at her neck. I smile. Drew and Noah are both friends of mine. Drew is actually a very successful 26-year-old. Drew’s the Art Director of the company I work for, meaning he’s my boss, and Jen’s and Steph’s and even Noah’s. If you think having your best friend date your boss is weird then no, you’re actually wrong. It’s not, at least not in this case. You see I was actually the one who put them together. It was so cute. Jennifer was never the dating type of girl. She would go through life just watching and learning, guys would ask her out but she would always turn them down because it would be either because they asked her out for the wrong reasons, she didn’t like them like that, she was busy with her studies or they were just plain immature and idiotic. So during our senior year in college, I needed to start my internship when someone recommended me to the company. I worked there for a couple of months. That’s where I meet Drew, I got to know him and the more I did the more I thought about Jen. So I started talking to him about her and he was really interested in her although when I would talk about him to Jen she wouldn’t hear it, she did like him but didn’t want to date. I would try to get them together but It wouldn’t work. And so I set her up on a blind date. Steph and I had to beg her for weeks to go, she finally said yes and turns out the blind date was him, I told him all about it and to my surprise she actually liked him and after going out a couple of more times he asked her out and she said yes. I was so happy. Noah, on the other hand, I’ve known him since college. He was in the same grade as us with his brown hair and midnight blue eyes. He was always a quiet one from what I saw, but then again I didn’t really associate with him a lot, he was friends with Jen first and she introduced him to me. He took a couple of classes with Jen and they had some jobs together, until one day Jen comes out and asks Steph to hang out with a friend of hers. Steph refused and continued on her work, although Jen never let it slide. Until one day Steph was telling us how she went to the park and bumped into this guy and accidentally spilled her coffee on him. She helped him clean up and as she said, one thing lead to another and when they started going out and she introduced us to him, Jen was excited and cheery saying that’s the ‘friend’ she wanted Steph to hang out with. So, in the end, everyone was happy. Stephanie and Noah are about to meet their three years soon, and I, am alone. Sigh. I shake it off and place my bowl in the sink and gather my things. I look at the guys as they get comfortable on my coach. “How did you guys get in here anyway?” I said folding my hands across my chest. “I have a key, remember?” Jen said in a duh tone. I rolled my eyes. “Why are you here then?” “Because if we wouldn’t have come you would have been still asleep,” Stephanie said nonchalantly. “Why are you guys getting comfy in my living room then?” “Because we want to hang out and rest and what better place to go it but here?” Noah said smiling at me. “How about you guys leave my house and go do your jobs?” I said irritated. “My recent book in currently going through editing and I’m doing research for my next article piece for Derek.” She says before looking up at me. “I’m thinking supernatural for a new book, what do you think?” Steph said. “My new Photoshoot isn’t until Tuesday and I’ve already checked, printed and mailed my latest work to my old client, and I don’t have any work to hand into Derek,” Jen added. “I’ve finished my recent job so I’m free,” Noah added simply. “And I’m not needed until Monday, plus I’m the boss,” Drew said and I huffed at them all. Its true we all work in the same company, but we didn’t plan it or anything. Drew’s dad is a lawyer and a member of the Board of Directors, so he’s been working for the company for a long time, meaning Drew basically grew up there and so he worked his way up during school, and after, until his current role, Art Director. Uhm, how do I say this, he’s our Cat Grant from T.V show Super Girl except he doesn’t own the building or the main company but he does have a lot of connections and has a lot of experience and money. Anywho, Stephaine is a journalist and works in the editorial department who applied as an assistant after school and got in, then promoted to her job now, I work on a different floor of the company in general. I’m not an immediate working member of SJProdcution Company, I work with a third party company but at the end of the day Drew is the one that helps sign my paychecks so technically I do work with everyone and as I said before I started here from my internship, and both Jen and Noah are both Freelancers, Jen as a Graphic Designer and Noah as a Videographer and Photographer and they’ve partnered up with the company. “You’re all a bunch of smart asses. Do you have to have an answer to all of my questions?” I glared. “Yep,” Jen said popping the ‘p’. “So I’m the only one who as to go to work?!” I whined. “Pretty much, ” Steph said. “Ug, you guys suck! I’ll be back later. Don’t make a mess and if you break something you fix it” I told them. “Bye!” They all said as I walked to the front door. I heard Drew laugh. “Oh please, with Jen here we can’t do anything.” I saw Jen pout and punch his arm. I chuckled as he winced and I opened the door with a sigh, only to gasp quietly as I started right into the eyes of my neighbor, Logan Shawn. I quickly closed the door and put my keys away. “Morning Cleo,” I heard him say with that sexy husky voice of his. I shivered slightly, and then I turned and smiled at him. “Good morning Logan.” We were staring at each other for a while until we heard loud laughter coming from the inside of my apartment. I blushed slightly as Logan raised an eyebrow and chuckled “Jen and the other guys?” he asked I nodded and sighed He smiled at me and I smiled back as my heart started beating against my ribcage. He looked at his watch. “We should hurry or we’ll be late.” I jumped. “Damn, you’re right, sorry.” He motioned for me to walk. “Ladies first.” I raised an eyebrow and smirked at him as he shrugged his broad shoulders in a playful manner. I started walking and he followed. All you could hear were the ‘click’ ‘clack’s’ of my heels, I swear I felt like someone was staring at my butt, but I shook it off and kept walking, I was going to be late for work.
