The familiar sound of a heart monitor beeping gets louder and louder as I stir and begin to open my eyes to take in my surroundings. I squint as the light flares from the window, it makes me raise my hand to block the light which is when I notice IV inserted into my arm. My eyes trail from my arm to the bag the IV is connected to. That’s when a soft voice on the opposite side of the bed is heard. “It’s okay..” I turn my head to the voice. I see a middle aged woman with small wrinkles on her face.
