"Babe," I tear my lips from Alex, gently shoving him away. Our lips have been locked for about five minutes, and quite frankly, I'm exhausted. The makeout session was hot and whatever, but I need to leave. "Where are you going?" He asks me, holding my hand like he does not want me to go. "I need to pee. I had so much beer to drink." "Come on, Lottie. You didn't have as much to drink as me and I don't feel like peeing." "Alex, that's why our bodies are different. Now, if you don't let me go, I'll disgrace you and pee all over the floors. I'm sure you don't want that." I smile at him and he finally lets me go. I make a beeline for the corridors, but I don't make it through without getting hugs from different strangers. "Honey, you have to start having his babies as soon as you get married. Men of nowadays do not like to wait." Gemma, an old lady and the wife of Conan Reed, the Vice President of Iron Disciples tells me and I nod, smiling at her. Gemma has always been sweet to me, but today is just not the day. I finally slip into the corridors. I look around, anger and jealousy coursing through my veins as I think about what he'll be doing to her by now. I'm guessing he has a hand wrapped around her throat while he gives her back shots from behind. My goodness, I'm so jealous. The truth of the matter is that I never really cared for Cade Vermont while growing up. He was like an uncle to me. He filled in the role of a father. I never really noticed him. Not until I was going to college. It was then I noticed that he was dangerously handsome with ink all over his body. By then, I caught myself staring too long. I was eighteen and he was thirty-three, ready to say I do at the altar to the love of his life. He was so whipped by her. By then, I knew it was too late. I was happy about one thing, though. The fact that by the time I returned home from college, he'd be with her and I wouldn't have to deal with his handsome face because Cade was always lurking around. When I heard that he was divorced and back in town, I was shocked, but seeing him at the clubhouse with the Iron Disciples cut, it sunk in my head that he was here to stay and his presence was one I would have to deal with. Maybe I wouldn't feel so bad if he hadn't looked at me like I was s**t. I got back to Iron Ridge yesterday. I saw him a few times, and he'd barely spared me a glance. He didn't even congratulate me. A chatter in one of the rooms makes me snap back to reality. I bend, trying to eavesdrop on the conversation. A minute later and I can barely make out what they are saying. Worse off because it isn't even Cade. It's most likely an up and coming biker, trying to have his way with one of the sweet butts who showed up tonight. I tear away from the door, looking everywhere. It hasn't been that long since he left. I doubt he would have gone that far. What if he's taken her to a motel, paid some money and is currently f*****g her senseless? No, he wouldn't do that. I shake my head because I can't fathom the thought of Cade doing that. I step out into the night, and that's when I find him. He's leaning against the wall, a cigarette in his mouth, the smoke swirling around until it disappears. The blonde who was trying to move to him is nowhere to be found. Now, Cade gives off big d**k energy and I doubt he would be done with her so quickly. He most likely dismissed her. I should not care about my father's best friend's s****l life, but the fact that he did not f**k her tonight makes me so happy. "This is your second cigarette for the night. Uncle Cade, I think you should take it easy, you know." I smile at him, going to stand next to him and leaning against the wall. "I think you should mind your business, Lottie and stop worrying about grown people's business." He sucks on the cigarette before puffing some smoke. "Well, I'm just concerned. Cancer's very expensive to treat and you can get cancer from smoking too much." "Why are you worrying about me? Does your college boy fiance not give you enough to worry about? Also, don't you have a wedding to plan?" He asks, not even bothering to look at me, and I feel as though I've done something wrong. "A wedding you haven't congratulated me for, Uncle Cade. Did I do something wrong? It's still your Lottie from years back. I just got older." I grin as though it would magically change everything. He slides his left leg from where it is craned against the wall, walks up to my space, his six feet three inches frame towering over my five foot something one, and he looks into my eyes. At that moment, I'm thinking. Lottie, pull him into one of the rooms and seduce him. You'll finally get what you've fantasized about for years. Why don't you go on your tiptoes and kiss him. I'm brought back to reality when he smokes over my head. I hold my breath, but eventually, I give in and begin to choke. Still, he doesn't step aside. "You're transparent as glass, Lottie, and I know what you came here looking for. You better go back to your little fiance before you see something that will give you nightmares for the rest of your life." He spits and I freeze, swallowing a lump that forms in my throat. "I didn't. I-I-I..." I pause, looking into Cade's eyes. He reaches out, places his hand on my hand, his fingers touching my engagement ring. He flicks the diamond there, shaking his head in utter disgust. "Cheap glass for a cheap promise." He mutters, and then walks away, leaving me trembling and humiliated in the dark.
