Cade Vermont needs to be put in his f*****g place.
I don't care if he's the man I secretly harbored a crush on until I went to college.
I don't care if he's my father's best friend, and I certainly do not care if he's been on my mind more than Alex.
That is my mantra as I get up out of bed that morning after the horrendous s*x Alex and I had last night.
Alex got up early this morning, saying he was going to see some old friends, but I know better. I know he's going to brag about how he's got the president's daughter on lock.
Me? I do not care what he does. I'm too bothered trying to get myself to stop thinking about Cade.
I take a quick shower, slipping on a pair of joggers and a tank top before brushing my hair and packing it in a messy bun.
I head out of the room and head downstairs into the garage.
Speak of the devil.
Cade is laying flat on a mat on the garage floor, his hands dirty as he wrenches on his bike.
He looks so nonchalant, like hell could become earth today and he wouldn't give a damn. Honestly, I aspire to have the confidence that this man has.
Also, he looks like he hasn't had proper sleep in days.
Just the right amount of grumpiness.
"What do you think you're doing?" I ask as soon as I march up to him.
He pays me no mind as he continues to work on his bike.
He reaches for a bolt and his once white tank top rides up high, exposing his deliciously inked abs. I want to trace them with my fingers, but immediately, I remind myself why I'm here.
"Cade Vermont, I know you're not f*****g deaf. You're the only one in this garage and you know I'm talking to you." I say with a lot of audacity as I fold my arms across my chest.
He finally rolls off the mat, getting up.
I feed my eyes with his beautiful tight ass.
Once he's up to his full height, he gives me a once over before he leans over and continues to work on his bike.
He picks up the rag on the workbench and wipes the sweat of his forehead before he resumes working.
By now, I'm too pissed.
I move closer to him and poke him in the chest.
"What do you want, Lottie?" He asks, but doesn't look at me.
"I want to know why you were invading my privacy."
"Sorry?"
"Last night. You think I didn't see you. You were watching Alex and I get intimate." I remind him.
I expect some form of one worded answer from him so that we can keep arguing, but when he begins to laugh to the point where his chest vibrates visibly, I'm completely taken aback.
"Did I say anything funny?" I look around as though we have audience.
"You must be joking if you think I have nothing else to do than watch you while you get f****d by that college boy."
"Language, Cade."
"Language? You didn't know about language when you walked up to me to talk about this bullshit?"
I swallow.
"I'm just saying that it shouldn't repeat itself again. I'm engaged and I need you to respect my privacy as well as my fiancés." I explain, turning around to walk away, but then I hear him mutter something under his breath.
"Sorry, what was that?"
"I was just saying you're too much of a brat for me to have my attention on you. You're a spoilt child who constantly needs to know that someone is fixated on them to live." He casually speaks. All the while, my jaw is on the floor.
"Cade, mind your words."
"Or what?"
"Or.."
"You think I haven't noticed how badly you've tried to get my attention since you got back. If you're so happy with your college boy, then act like I don't exist."
Oh, this man has definitely taken this too far.
"You're an asshole!"
"Well, bummer Lottie, that is common knowledge. You see anyone come in here and say they are looking for gentleman Cade? Hell no! Everyone knows I'm an asshole."
My breathing quickens as I try to wrack my brain to think of a response.
"But you," he pauses. "Everyone thinks you're such a good girl. They think you're this perfect lady whole will marry the perfect man and have the perfect children. If only they know the thoughts that run through your head everyday."
"Cade, I..."
"Look, Lottie, Mirabella used me until I was hollow. I'm back in Iron Ridge now, and that has nothing to do with you. I'm back because I'm a dead man, and Iron Ridge is the place for people like me. If you keep pushing me, I will take you down to hell with me."
My heart literally stops as those words leave his mouth because I can't believe my ears.
Instead of walking away like a normal person, I do the craziest thing.
I smile at him.
"Take me, Cade."
"Sorry?" His brows bunch up in confusion.
"Take me down to hell with you."
In an instant, Cade pins me against the bike he's working on, hovering above me.
"And everyone keeps speaking about how you're such a good girl." He shakes his head, and that earns a smile from me.
"Take me to hell with you, Cade. Or are you simply all bark and no bite?"
By now his face has become red.
Be grabs my chin, his hot gaze on me so intent.
"Go back to your room, Lottie. Before I forget that you're Jax's daughter."
I'm in the middle of trying to come up with the right comeback when I hear footsteps shuffling into the garage.
I hear someone clear their throat, and I pull away from Cade. Quickly.
"Forget what about my daughter, Cade?"
In tandem, Cade and I turn in the direction of the entrance and we find my father, hands casually on his waist as he awaits a response.
