CHAPTER 3: THE APOLOGY The next day came and after the ‘’apology’’ and everything was now back to normal and I had to go to school and face the friends that I broke down in front of I had to now face and explain the apology I received, in complete disbelief we all decided to let it go. Time went by before the next drama episode that is my life. I made it through to the next grade which was matric I was very happy to have made it there, I could see myself out of the house and being on my own and at peace however that didn’t come as quickly as I expected getting to the finish line took about twelve months that felt like twelve years. I remember ever so vividly when one of my favourite young ladies till this day came to visit me in my matric year during the March holidays. It was all great until I was asked give some of my old clothes that I had put aside to my visitor, I didn’t have a problem with that I directed them to where I put them. Nothing could’ve ever prepared me for what came next. I was in the room with my visitor having a nice conversation, even laughing. This is when my father barged in my room fuming, he asked me where the clothes I had put away were. He literally was shouting for me to take out the clothes I hid so that I wouldn’t have to give my visitor whom by the way I requested to come visit me. However, that was my reality I wasn’t in a movie I was actually being accused of such. So, it became something huge, and it went as far as myself and my dad’s wife having a heating exchange of words from which my dad stepped in and told me to go to hell. I’m writing this five years later and there was no apology for that I had to apologize for peace, and I did. I went on to complete my matric however my dad wasn’t that pleased with my results I could tell he wanted me to be like other kids and get 7 distinctions, I didn’t even have one, but I had passed well enough to go study for a degree. This is now early 2018 I see my dad going up and down trying to get me a school to upgrade my marks and I went along with it because I’m like whatever will make him happy. Time went past and I still didn’t know what I wanted to study most universities that I had applied to rejected me, but I was in panic mode trying to apply for whichever university would take me not caring what I would study. Eventually a little birdy gave me direction and I decided that was what I needed to study. In this time, I’m seeing an encouraging side of my father letting me know that there’s nothing wrong with staying behind than going to study a course I’ll drop out of. I now know what I’m going to study I just must let my father know, so time came, and I did just that. Suddenly, he dropped all the plans of me upgrading that’s when I realized that it was an option only if I did a course, he felt was useful.
