Chapter Twenty Three

As I walked over to the door and slipped on my shoes, a sudden feeling of nausea overtook me as I stood in front of the door, gripping the handle tightly. Closing my eyes, I took another deep breath before opening my eyes and heading outside. “Hey,” I greeted softly. “Hi,” Jared murmured with a small smile as he walked over to greet me, reaching out his arms for a hug and pulling me close to him. “How did it go?” he asked worriedly once we pulled back from our hug. “Okay I guess,” I responded noncommittally. The last thing I wanted to talk about was the incident that we’d gone through earlier. I didn’t want to dwell on that painful topic. But I also didn’t know how much longer I could keep avoiding it. If I kept avoiding it, I might explode and end up telling Jared that I was pregnant
