Her Mystic Scent

Chapter 2

I was staring intensely at her. Who is she? Why does she smell so uncommon? The scent reminded me of my grandma... She had a unique fragrance on her body too!​​

It's a myth that werewolves can sense a particularly sweet smell on someone's body if they are their loved ones. But I don't even know this lady. Why did I sense such a rare scent?

She piqued my curiosity badly as my eyes were already fixated on her. She was walking with a nonchalant motion along the footpath. Her hands were moving continuously towards her face. She was probably crying, and could only wipe her tears.

From behind she too looked so lonely! Unknowingly, I started following her from behind as my mind was extremely inquisitive.

Suddenly she stopped walking. I feared that she had sensed someone tailing her and so I quickly stepped back a little. But she didn't turn behind and turned towards her left, heading to the main street.

It was around 8 pm and the streets were the busiest during that hour as thousands of vehicles were running wild on the road.

I was a little perplexed by her gesture. Why did she turn towards the road? What is she up to?

I saw her side face, especially her eyes, they looked so mournful. Tears were rolling down her cheeks and she was biting her lips to stop herself from breaking down. Her facial expression was too intense, as if she was lost in some deep thought.

I don't know why, but I couldn't read her mind! As the alpha werewolf, I have some supernatural abilities, one of which is to read minds. And humans are usually easier, since they tend to be much more vulnerable. But then again, I still haven't adapted to reading a werewolf's mind completely yet.

I failed in her case! Why? Isn't she a human? But she doesn't seem to be a werewolf either! I tried again but failed drastically.

Next moment, I saw a huge car driving towards our direction on the street. Suddenly, I gazed at her and I was startled.

She was staring at the car with her dense and intensified eyes and from her body gesture, it appeared to me that she was about to jump before it!

‘Damn it! She is trying to commit suicide!’

As the car approached her, she suddenly made her move. I couldn't waste a single millisecond and ended up using my supernatural power without my will.

I rushed in my inhumane speed towards her and pulled her back forcefully within my strong arms. Next moment I ran to the other side of the road to avoid the crash that she was hoping for. This happened in a fraction of a second and I doubt the driver even saw what happened.

As I reached the other side, I glanced at her once. Her eyes were closed but she appeared to me as a divine beauty while in my arms. My heart was pounding fast as I was holding her firmly. She was trembling in fear and unknowingly she was clasping my chest with her wobbly hands to seek comfort. Even though I wanted to... I couldn't let her go from my arms.

After a few seconds, she slowly opened her eyes and stared at me with her fearful gaze.

I was still wearing my cap to cover my face and, but unknowingly, my eyes had turned a shade of red as I had just used my werewolf powers. As she gazed at me, I regained my senses and almost threw her on the ground from my arms. I fixed my cap properly to make sure she didn't notice my eyes and started walking away from her. I didn't look behind once.

"Hey! Wait! Wait!" I heard a loud call behind me from her as I sensed she was trying to run after me in order to stop me.

But how can a mere human like her catch up with a werewolf's speed? I smirked at her ignorance as I picked a pace.

After reaching a safe distance, I stopped and turned behind. She wasn't visible anymore as I went far enough.

Phewww! I acted so recklessly today! Why the heck.. I was so stupid today.. I almost revealed myself before her! That's absolutely shameful for an alpha! I need to keep this a secret from everyone.

She almost tricked me with her fascinating smell as I unknowingly acted as her pet animal!

I started to head back towards my home, but my feet stopped. A troubling thought was bothering me consistently.

What if she tries to die again? I just saved her at that moment, but what if she attempts again?

"Huh? Why am I concerned about her? If she wants to die, let her die! Why the hell am I getting so puzzled? I grumbled fiercely while clenching my wrist.

I got an idea instantly. I tried to use my super wolf sight to find out about her.

But what's this? Everything was completely black in my vision. Did I fail again? I have never failed before to foresight a human. Why can't I use my powers with her?

I was totally pissed off as I failed to control my concern for her. I opted for my super wolf invisible-power and started running back to that place again, where I saved her.

What the f*ck am I doing now?

As I reached the place I looked all around to find her. Though I stood a bit distant from her as she appeared to be someone really mystical. So, I was dubious about going near her.

Ahh, there she is! Sitting at the bus-stop and crying again. What's the matter with her?

I slowly gathered courage and went near her, but as I opted for my invisibility, she couldn't see me. She was crying helplessly.

"Why? Why did you save me? What am I going to do with my life now? Why did you do it?" She was mumbling mournfully while sobbing bitterly. Her cheeks were flustered red as if she had been crying too hard for a long time.

"I saved her life and instead of being thankful, she is blaming me back? What an i***t! That's why I dislike humans!" I murmured as I was sulking with her gesture with my eyes fixed on her.
