knew doing this would really hurt Mum,
but just this once… I needed to have fun.
Besides, it would only hurt her if I got caught.
She probably wouldn't know I'm gone because she's too busy checking up on Thessa and her new pet—Anna.
I just had to figure out a way to sneak out at night and return before morning.
Should I tell Dora?
No. That would make me a bad sister.
I shouldn’t drag her into this.
Now, how do I get past Anna?
Well, she’s always glued to Dora,so half the time she doesn’t even remember I exist.
I doubt she’d come to my room that night.
But Mum…
That’s the real challenge.
She rarely checks on me at night, unlike Dora,
But what if this Friday is different?
What if she decides to have one of her late-night talks?
If only she didn’t have a spare key to my door, life would be so much easier.
I sighed and stared at my reflection.
I’d just have to come up with an excuse… or another way.
One thing’s certain; I will attend that party.

Dora’s POV
I sat quietly in my mum’s car as she drove me home from school. She seemed distant today, her silence heavy enough to fill the whole car. I wanted to ask what was wrong, but my mind wandered back to that moment in the library.
His eyes had locked with mine, and for a heartbeat, everything else faded away. Those lips; soft, perfect, almost unreal. If only Ethan could be mine… I think I’d die for him. He’d asked if I’d be at Natasha’s party. A small wave of jealousy crept in, knowing he’d be there too, but he’s over her now. Besides, everyone just wants to have fun.
-------------
I got home, walked into my room and tossed my bag on the bed.
That wasn’t like me at all, but I was exhausted and frustrated.
I had to go to this party.
Who knows? I may share my first kiss or Ethan could probably ask me out.
I couldn’t just let that opportunity slip away.
Anna was asleep on my bed, or so I thought.
I changed out of my uniform, took a quick shower, and sat down to do my homework.
If my grades slipped, Mum would start suspecting “peer influence,”and the next thing I knew, she’d have me homeschooled again.
That was my worst nightmare.
Just then, Anna stirred.
She got up, opened my drawer, and walked toward me. Without a word, she dropped two tickets on my desk.
I froze.
“What? How—?”
Before I could finish, she smiled.
“I have my ways. Plus, I know Phoebe…she’s just a stooge.”
Her tone dripped with confidence.
I squealed, jumping up to hug her.
“Anna, you’re irreplaceable!”
She laughed and pulled away.
“So… let’s go shopping!”
I frowned.
“I already have so many clothes, Anna.
Going shopping will look suspicious.
You don’t know my mum" paused "she’d make a great detective.”
“You mean those nunnery clothes of yours?” she scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“No thanks. And as for your mum, she hasn’t met an actress like me yet.”
I sighed.
“How are we even going to shop?
Mum and Thessa do all the shopping while I stay home.
And even if we buy something, how do we hide it?”
“Leave it to me,” she said confidently, lying back on my bed.
“Just sit, relax, and get ready to have fun.”
Anna was my age, yet she carried herself like she’d lived twice as long.
I admired her. she was bold, fearless,
and always seemed to know exactly what to do.
Sometimes, I wished Anna’s mum was my mum.
---------
Later that evening
Anna somehow convinced our gatekeeper to buy the dresses she picked out.
I couldn’t believe it.
I could barely get him to open the gate for me,
and here she was bribing him like it was nothing.
I adored her even more for it.
When the packages arrived,Anna tore them open with a gleam in her eyes.
Inside were two shiny, body-hugging dresses ; pink for me, red for her.
“This is your perfect fit,” she said, holding mine up with a grin.
I froze.
“Anna… I can’t. I mean, I want to, but this is too revealing.
If Mum ever finds out—”
“Anna, do I have to remind you to act your age?” she cut in, frowning.
“There you go again—‘Mum this, Mum that.’”
She sighed dramatically and began folding the dresses back into the box.
“You know what? Forget the party.
It’s not really your thing anyway.
I shouldn’t force you to do what you don’t want.”
She lay back like nothing happened.
“No! wait!” I rushed to her side.
“That’s not what I meant. I do want to go!”
Anna raised her head, resting her chin on her palm, waiting for me to continue.
“I have an idea,” I said, my eyes lighting up.
“What if we wear my dresses instead?
I have some really nice ones!”
Anna tilted her head, unimpressed.
“Dora, this isn’t a ball.
Your dresses might be pretty, but this is a party, loud music, drinks, real hot guys like Ethan.”
A strange flutter rose in my stomach at her words.
It felt… exciting.
“Alright,” I said softly, this time meaning it.
Anna grinned.
“That’s my girl!”
She jumped off the bed and walked to my wardrobe, flinging it open dramatically—only to pause.
“Don’t tell me you have only black wigs?” she groaned, doing a quick facepalm.
I burst into laughter.
few seconds after, I saw the door knob move
"oh no...mum has spare keys". I whispered.
Anna's eyes drifted to the clothes on the bed…..
”it's time for dinner'' mum said as she held the door knob.
Anna and I heaved a sigh of relief and fell on the bed.
"Coming!" we both responded
