The Date

1003 Words
Lyla She found him! Or, more like he found her. He just showed up in the pack one day. And, he asked her out. Oh, she was so smitten. She couldn't wait for her date. As she was walking, she nearly stumbled and fell when someone tried tripping her. And, the big foot that tried to trip her belonged to none other than Lilth. Lilth and her subjects have been bullying her for years. "Don't fall, braniac," said Lilth as she and her cronies laughed. Lyla just rolled her eyes and kept walking. She was so happy that not even the pack bully could bring her done. "What? Now you think you're to good to talk to us because you are dating the Alpha!" Lilth hollered. Lyla turned around and asked, "It was just one date and how did you hear about that?" "Are you kidding? All of us girls follow the Alpha's whereabouts. And, who he is dating is too of the list! Stay the f*ck away from him if you know what's good for you, or else!" Lilth screeched as she gave Lyla a big push, knocking her down. Lyla nearly fell when out of nowhere came Nico, catching her. He was furious. She could see the expression on his face. "HOW DARE YOU TOUCH HER!" he yelled right in Lilth's face. "NEVER, NEVER EVER TOUCH HER AGAIN!" He then turned and went to Lyla and put his arm around her protectively and asked, "Are you okay, Beautiful?" Lyla could hear the friends of Lilth ooh and ahh the handsome Nico as he came to her rescue. Jealous of the attention Nico gave Lyla and hearing her friends impressed with him, she turned and told them, "Shut up!" Nico continued ingratiating himself to Lyla, complimenting her and tracing his fingers along her back. He was so stunning, charming and suave, she couldn't resist him. She found herself falling in love. "Come on, let's go somewhere where she is not," he said as he looked back and glared at Lilth. They went for a walk though the pack gardens and talked and talked. He made her laugh. She loved that in a man. Afterwards, he took her to the fine dining restaurant called Truffles with Chef Pierre who was the best chef in the pack. He had a real talent with food. He was expensive though. Nico held the door for her and they went in. Once seated, Nico held her seat out for her and never missed a step in impressing her with his thoughtfulness. The restaurant had a trio of a volinst, pianist and cellist that were playing music. He asked her to dance. No one else was dancing so she refused at first, but he was so charming she couldn't resist him. They danced in an open area by the trio and he was such a talented dancer. "I can't believe I finally found you," he said as he dipped her. "I know. I thought I'd never find my Mate," she said as he spun her. "So, you feel it, too. We are destined to be together," he said as he spun them both around together in each other's arms. After the song, they sat down to order. He ordered lobster with drawn butter and she ordered the same. They continued to talk and share information about themselves. What he told about his family was true, but he still had to pretend he was a werewolf for now. He hated lying to her. Once they finished eating, they left and bumped into Alpha Bryer. He looked like he just got punched in the gut at seeing her date another man. They only had one date and weren't exclusive, but she could see on his face that he was fiercely jealous and deeply hurt at the same time. "Lyla," Alpha Bryer said. "What is this? Are you dating this guy?" "This is our first date, but he is my Mate. We just found each other," she replied. "Oh," he said as he turned away defeated. She was only five foot three to Alpha Bryer's six foot five stature, but she completely deflated the man. "You had a date with the Alpha of your pack?" asked Nico. "But, that was before I found you," she said as she caressed his cheek lovingly. With that, Nico felt secure and confident about his place in her heart. He just hoped she would feel the same when she finds out what he is. He had to tell her the truth. He couldn't keep lying to her. He took her to the river where they had privacy. They sat on a log to talk. "I need to tell you something, Baby. Something that might change how you feel about me," he said with reluctance in his voice. She could tell whatever he had to say, he didn't want to say at all. This was making her nervous. "You know how I said I came from Moon Wood Pack, well, I'm not from there. I've never even been in a pack before now. I am Lord Nico Hunter, ruler of the White Crescent Coven of vampires. You feel as though I am your Mate because you are my Destined One. You are my Companion. It's just like a Mate. We just call them different names. Whatever you call it, we are meant to be together. Please, forgive me for not telling you at first. I was afraid," he said. He reached for her hand in her lap, but she pulled away from him. She stood and turned away. "You lied to me. And, about this! This is huge. Our species are mortal enemies! We can't be together. We can't be together partly because of what we are, but more so because you lied to me. Goodbye Nico," she cried as he ran away in tears. He wanted to run after her, but it was too late. She hated him. He lost the love of his life.
