The Attack

Alpha Bryer

Alpha Bryer made it back to his pack, disheartened. He so wanted to rescue her and make her his Luna, but what was he to do, she chose her Mate. What a cruel joke life played on him making him love a girl that he couldn't have. To live his life pining for her, and yet never have her. He and Beta Reyes barely spoke on the walk back. What was there to say?

After returning to the pack, Alpha Bryer went in his room, took hs clothes off and took a hot, steamy shower. He stood in there and actually cried over Lyla. He hasn't cried since he was a young boy and would never dare to in front of anybody. But, this really cut him. He'll, it eviscerated him. He was crushed, destroyed, annihilated. And, with this pain, he would learn to live. If he could make her love him, he would. But he can't. He would have to bury the anguish and live with it.

After he got out of he shower, he went to his office to buy his mind in work. Work sufficed as enough of a distraction that he could trudge forward in life. He would just work and work and work. He worked all day and into the evening. He didn't even go eat lunch of dinner. He had no appetite. Men in depression rarely do. Suddenly, the door flung open and scared him half to death. Beta Reyes hollered, "We are under attack!"

Alpha Bryer and Beta Reyes, along with many more men and women, ran to the front gates, picked up arms and went out to fight. Non-fighters and children were rushed to a safe house which was surrounded with guards. The rest of the warriors were in the front in the midst of battle.

Alpha Bryer held a war hammer in his right hand and a halberd in hos left. Normally, for men these are two-handed weapons, but Reyes was so massive an powerful that he slung them around as if they weighed nothing. He sliced the head off of a soldier that lept at them and took off his head while at the same time, brought down the heavy war hammer on the head of a man coming to his right with a sword, obliterating his head. He then swung the halberd in a half circle, taking off the heads of three more. He then brought it across another man's midsection an eviscerated him. Then, another man lept at him with glowing red eyes, extended claws, and his canines extended. He slammed the war hammer into him and sent him flying. "THEY ARE VAMPIRES! WE ARE BEING ATTACKED BY f*****g VAMPIRES! DESTROY THE HEAD OR THE HEART. IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO KILL THEM!" Alpha Breyer shouted at the top of his lungs. Many other warriors noticed the same thing as the vampires showed themselves as the creatures they are. Why would he attack me after letting go? What is Nico thinking? And, where is he? He just sends his men out and doesn't lead the attack? Alpha Breyer thought as he continued to fight, killing them in droves. The battle raged on and on until all of the attackers were dead. The werewolves eradicated the invading army of vampires completely. Viciously Furious, Alpha Bryer called forth his General, Head of the Warriors, General Harris, and said, "Launch a counterattack! That b*stard dare attack me! We are destroying that blood sucker and his whole army of monsters!" General Harris didn't hesitate to prep his soldiers, load the four wheel drive vehicles with weapons and equipment, and get the warriors readied at the front gate. A handful of guards remained behind to protect the children and non-fighters. Alpha Bryer prepared the soldiers mentally and said, "The enemy is fast, well-trained, and have a strong instinct in battle, but we are stronger, more powerful, and built for battle! They dare encroach on our lands and attack us! For this, we will obliterate them!" The men raised their arms and cheered loudly. They roared and howled into the night. They then went marching on for the vampire stronghold to attack.

When they arrived, they were met by a bigger army at the front gates of Nico's Coven. Nico came out and met Alpha Bryer and said angrily, "I let you go and you have the gall to return to wage war with me! Are you mad!?"

"Don't play me for a fool. I just annihilated every last one of your attacking vampires who dared wage war with me!" shouted Alpha Bryer.

Nico thought for a moment, then said, "Then, you eliminated a problem for me. Those are rebel soldiers who are in cahoots against me under the rule of a Lord Evingston and they are the ones who attacked you, I believe. He hates werewolves and wants to eradicate them. Me, I want peace."

Alpha Bryer said to Nico, "Then, it seems we have a common enemy."

"It seems we do," said Nico, "And, that makes us allies."

"Begrudgingly, I must agree," Alpha Bryer said, holding out his hand.

Nico shook his hand and just like that, two men who previously fought over one girl's heart, now are allies in a vampire internal war.

Alpha Bryer said, "I will remain here so we can go over logistics. My army will return home. I have no quarrel with you." Nico provided Alpha Bryer with quarters to spend the night as General Harris led the werewolf army back to the pack. He had food and a change of clothes brought up to Alpha Bryer's room.

The men met in Nico's office the following day. It infuriated Alpha Bryer to see that Lyla was there, right beside him. He felt like Nico was flaunting his loving relationship with the girl that Alpha Bryer loved. But, he had to put his feelings aside so they could figure out what to do about Lord Evingston and his rebellion.
