After the War

Lord Nico Hunter After the fighting was over and the enemy was annihilated, Nico began to return back to his coven with his men. As he was returning, one of his soldiers ran back to him and, out of breath, said, "Lord Hunter, Lord Evingston has escaped. He caught us off guard, fought dirty and incapacitated us long enough to escape. I shot at him, but checked, I did not get him. There was no blood anywhere when I checked the area through which he escaped. He was impossibly fast. I am so sorry. I take full responsibility." "Of course you are fully responsible. I trusted you with him. You were armed. How could you let him get the upper hand and escape! You have let me down! I don't even want to look at you right now. I will deal with you both later," exclaimed Lord Hunter. "Right now, I am just glad we accomplished two of our objectives: rescuing my Lyla and obliterating the enemy. We will find Lord Evingston." He and his warriors returned to the coven. Those carrying the injured took them to the hospital. Those carrying the dead went to the graveyard and began digging graves and those who worked there prepared for the memorial service for all of them. Lord Hunter went to his room where he found Lyla resting. She sat up when she saw him and then ran into his arms. They embraced each other. No words were spoken. They just held each other. He then pulled back and exclaimed, "We should celebrate!" "Celebrate? But, Lord Evingston got away?"" questioned Lyla. "Who cares, we will find him. We wiped out all his followers so he has nothing now. He is a man with nothing, racing through the woods, soon to be caught. I'm sure Alpha Byer and his soldiers will help us track the snake down. But, I got you back! That is cause for celebration. We will have a grand ball. It will help with morale. Tonight, we must bury our dead. The mood will be somber and depressed. But, tomorrow we celebrate getting you back. And, you can go buy a new dress for the event. I insist," he said smiling as he handed her his credit card that had no limit. "Buy anything you want, but be sure to buy the most beautiful dress there for you. This party will be big!" he said as he picked her up and spun her around. She then joyfully hurried out the door to go shopping. He picked up his phone and called the Event Planner, Marion. "Marion, this is Lord Hunter. I want you to set up a magnificent ball for tomorrow, starting at midnight. Have the chef prepare gourmet foods and the servers are to serve our finest champagnes. Decorate the place with the most elegant grandeur. Bring out the statues, lights, silk table cloths, everything that screams elegance. Spare no expense. You have my permission to go ahead and get anything we need to make this celebration special. My Lyla is back. Not only did we save my true love, but we crippled Lord Evingston by obliterating his army. Without followers, he has nothing. This will be a night to be remembered!" exclaimed Lord Hunter. "Absolutely, Lord Hunter. It will be perfect. The ball will be dripping with beauty and opulent charm. I won't let you down," said Marion. "You never have, Marion," said Lord Hunter. He then said goodbye and hung up the phone. He went to the Supply Runners and told them to go to the boat he owns and get a fresh load of lobsters, crabs, and sea bass from the fishermen in his employ. He instructed them to take the refrigerated semi. While out, they were to collect a list of gourmet foods that he made for them. "We have plenty of expensive champagnes here. But, we need the food and it must be fresh. Before you leave, go to the head chef and see if he needs anything else and get it and then hurry back," said Lord Hunter to his Supply Runners. "It will be done, Lord Hunter," they said with a bow and left right away. Lord Hunter then went to the local tailor. "I want a new tux made, dear Terrence. I have a very special night planned." "Oh, what is on your mind, Lord Hunter?" asked Terrence. "We are having a grand celebration. You will be very busy making tuxes for all the men that are going who want a new, custom-made tux. After all, you are the very best. So, I decided to come to you just before I let out the announcement," said Lord Hunter. After his tux was done, it was perfect. It molded to his body and complimented his build. He was somewhat muscular and it made him look so good, he could cut glass. He then went to Margerette and had her create and send out the invitations to most of the coven. Only so many could fit in the humongous ball room, otherwise, he would have invited everybody in the coven. If he could, he would have invited the entire world. He was ecstatic about this party and intended it to be more special than the rest. Once he finished with all his tasks to ready for tomorrow nights party, he returned to his room. As he opened the door, he saw Lyla quickly closing the closet door to her walk-in closet which was the size of a small room. "What are you hiding in there?" he asked teasingly. "That is my gown. You can't see it until the ball," she said, standing protectively in front of the closet door, smiling. "Won't I see it when we get ready tomorrow night?" he asked. "No, you are to get ready in one of the other rooms in the wing. I want it to be a surprise," she said as she approached him and put her arms around his neck, pulling herself close. "And, any gown on you will look spectacular. I shall do as you request," he said as he pulled her even closer and kissed her passionately.
